Jude and Cardan 🐍🗡️❤️‍🔥

I have been sitting on this WIP for a while. The base sketch was actually a pose suggestion for a commission. But the client ended up choosing a different pose. So this just sat in my gallery and I wanted to use it for something. At first I was actually planning on drawing Kai and Paedyn since I have drawn so many Cruel Prince pieces lately. But during the sketching phase I couldn’t stop myself from making horn shapes in her hair. Then one thing led to another and he ended up getting a tail and here we are with another Jurdan piece. 🙂‍↕️

I was struggling a lot with the colors and background. I drew so many versions that I ended up deleting. But then I stumbled across a music video by Gorillaz that was SO pretty, so I took a lot of inspo from there with the background and the colors. But of course I am me so I had to throw in some reds, and then last minute I threw in some blues as well (I still don’t know if I prefer it with or without the blue). It doesn’t make sense at all but it looked so flat and boring until I added that pop of color.

I think I like this. But there are some color/background ideas that I ended up deleting that I still want to explore. So I do think I will end up using the same character layers but make a different piece out of it that feels more Eerie and Elfhame accurate.

Oh well, I hope you like it!

Oraya in the greenhouse 🗡️🐍🦇

I wanted to draw something bright and colorful with lots of vibrant green leaves, and decided to go for this one scene from The Serpent and the Wings of Night that has been on my to draw-list forever now.

I am re-reading the book at the moment and haven’t reached this scene yet on this readthrough. So I might have missed some important detail, but at least that sould make it spoiler free. 🙂‍↕️

I haven’t had a lot of time to read at all this summer due to my health issues. But now I’m finally getting back into it. I have some indie book fanart I really want to do.

Anyway, I hope you like it!!

Today marks my two year anniversary on here so I made this Jude artwork out of some of my favorite and most popular drawings. 🗡️🐍👑

Being part of this community has been wonderful in so many ways. I have learnt a lot from my artist peers and made some really nice connections. I have discovered so many new artists, found new indie books, found new music, found new shows and movies. Being on here has helped me find inspiration and helped me get out of artblock several times. And most of the people I have interacted with has been the kindest and most amazing people ever. I truly love the art community.

But the creative community is facing a lot of challenges at the moment. This is due to our work being stolen and fed into machines, due to platforms labeling our human made work as non-human, due to people choosing shortcuts instead of hiring humans and due to people being dishonest and non-transparent. These problems have grown larger over time and it’s much more difficult now than it was when I first started making art two years ago. It’s harder to spot what’s real, harder to prove your own authenticity, harder to trust others, harder to protect our work.

On top of that I have been struggling with burnout and other health issues lately making it harder to create in general and impossible to be consistent and follow algorithmic trends.

I don’t know what the future holds and how the situation will develop over time. But my original goal being on here was to use this account to track my own art improvement over time, to find inspiration and grow my skill alongside my mutuals. I would hate to let all these difficulties stop me from doing that. So I will keep creating my art and sharing it on here. I will focus more on personal art than commissions and I will draw what I like at my own pace one stroke at a time. The process is what makes it art. The techniques used, the decisions you make, the time and emotion your pour into it. That’s where the value lies. Not in the engagement or the end result.

Thank you for reading and for being here. ♥️

Evajacks in Wonderland 🦊🍎🏹🐇♥️

I haven’t felt like drawing at all recently due to my health. But I rewatched one of my old favorite animes that’s basically an Alice in Wonderland retelling, and that gave me the urge to draw an Alice in Wonderland inspired artwork of Eva and Jacks from OUABH.

Each time I try to sell in OUABH to someone in my friend circle I always describe the vibes as a Alice in Wonderland x Old Barbie movie whimsy + Romance fantasy mystery. so I have actually planned to do something like this for a while now.

I decided to go for a card design instead of a proper scene. That way I could add detail and random elements without feeling overwhelmed trying to make it make sense. I also decided to use the background from my previous Evangeline artwork for some of the bonus versions here.

Usually I switch between procreate and ibis paint x when drawing, because there is a brush in ibis paint that I LOVE rendering with. But this time I decided to keep everything in procreate in order to be able to include a full speedpaint to show you my human process after being wrongly flagged now in some of my posts. 🥲

Oh well, I hope you like it!

Evangeline Fox from Once Upon a Broken Heart 🦊🏹🍎

I really wanted to draw an Evangeline version of my Scarlett Dragna artwork. But I wanted to create something softer with the Magnificent North in the background.

I took inspiration from @artofmaxinevee when drawing this background since she is amazing at drawing the exact type of whimsical mood I was trying to achieve here. I focused more on shapes and colors than heavy rendering, and that was so nice since it didn’t make the background feel too overwhelming. I know the Magnificent North should look colder, but I can’t resist the urge to add greenery into my art.

This is more simple and playful than what I usually do. But I feel happy with the result and feel like it looks more faitytale-like than a lot of my other art. I will definitely try to play around like this more. Btw I kept changing the arms because I was indecisive. But my friends all voted for this version. So the last one with the basket was a bonus one that I didn’t want to abandon completely.

I can’t wait to meet Evangeline again soon in the novella!!

A Jurdan to get me out of my artblock 🗡️🐍

I wanted to make something moody and dark and decided that the Cruel prince was the perfect motif for that type of scene.

This was fun but challenging to make. I wanted to focus more of the vibe and athmosphere rather than the details of the characters. But I still haven’t found a good process for it so I ended up changing it a bunch of times. At one point I even restarted the artwork completely. But I did learn a lot and I’m happy with the final result.

I hope you like it as well. 🖤

Evangeline and Jacks in the Prince of Heart’s church where it all began 🦊🏹🍎

I managed to squeeze in a personal piece in between my comms and migraine issues. I am still studying from the landscape course by @thetyleredlin and wanted to try incorporating some things I learned about perspective into a character artwork. I thought a church would be a good scenery for this, which gave me this idea with Evajacks.

This took a long time to finish and I have so much to learn still. But I’m happy with how it turned out and that I’m finding ways to make my characters feel like part of the scene instead of just standing in front of a background.

I also tried using some new brushes when rendering this and really enjoyed it. I basically followed my same usual process but then used a watercolor mixing brush to add in unnatural pops of colors which made the process more fun and the result more interesting looking.

The characters are from the Once Upon a Broken Heart book series by the amazing author @stephanie_garber but you probably know that already if you have followed me for a while.

Anyway, I hope you like it! 💜

Sybil and Bartholomew 🦋

I finished reading the Knight and the Moth a few days ago and it was one of my favorite reads in a long time so I had to make some fanart.

I am aware the cathedral should look more dark and gloomy, but I already had to resist the urge to add leaves and flowers to it. you can’t take away lighting from me too. 😔

I’m still in a phase where I’m experimenting with colors. Here I tried mixing in a lot of colors in the background that I am usually scared of using, mainly pastel shades of green, orange and purple. I’m still not sure what I think. But I did my best.

I found the pose reference on Pinterest, but after trying to find the original account behind the photo I’m pretty sure it belongs to @aquietwild so please check them out!

For Bartholomew I mostly referenced a gargoyle image I found on Pinterest. I did change a few details in my version but that reference was so helpful since I haven’t drawn Gargoyles before. I tried to find the original person behind the reference. But unfortunately I couldn’t because it was reposted by so many different accounts. So if you recognize it and know who the original artist behind the original version it is then please let me know so I can credit them properly!

Scarlet Dragna ❤️🎪🎠

I FINALLY started reading Caraval. I have been afraid to do so because I was scared that I would compare it too much to Once Upon a Broken Heart. But I decided to give it a go and I’m really enjoying it so far. I finished the first book about a week ago and I picked up book 2 and 3 this past weekend. I wish I didn’t have to work today and could just stay at home and read instead. 🫠

My writst is also better now which means that I could finally finish up this artwork that I have been working on for this past week. I’m 1-2 days behind on all my projects since I had to rest due to my wrist pain. But those of you who have ongoing comms will hear from me within the next two days. ✨🎠

I hope you like this artwork because it was really fun to work on.

Raihn and Oraya 🖤

I haven’t drawn these two in forever so it was definitely time to do so. I am still in a phase where I am experimenting with colors and how to use them strategically to set the mood. Here it’s mainly thre green versions that are a bit experimental. I’m still unsure what I think of them, but I’m having really fun with it.

I am currently working on preparing the DTIYS as well as figuring out the giveaway stuff I want to do, so those will be up sometime next week.

Celaena Sardothien 🩵

I haven’t drawn Throne of Glass fanart in such a long time even though it’s by far my favorite SJM series. But I started listening to the audiobook recently and felt inspired to draw this in between my comms.

I have no idea where she is sitting but I wanted to put her somewhere high up looking at the city and the castle in the distance, and ended up going with this even if it might not make sense.

I have been super busy lately because I’m in the process of moving to another town. So a lot of my free time has gone into applying for jobs and apartments and trying to figure things out. But I think I have managed to find a good solution now and I’m excited for that, so I hope I will be able to catch up on my comms and make some more personal art too.

Oh well, I hope you like it! 🩵
