Raising Disciples

Coming to Bible Camp was not an easy decision for me to make. I had 1,000 excuses of why I couldn’t go and take my boys. Work, home, other kids at home, husband, animals, projects, etc.

I’ve used these excuses for several years, but Jagger asked to come this year. So, I decided to get over the excuses and make it happen.

I’m so glad I did.

Raising disciples isn’t a walk in the park. It’s a battle. It’s CHOOSING to do all of the things.

Do the hard things

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,”
‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The work will be there when you return.

Do the uncomfortable things

“For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭66‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The bathhouse is not your permanent source of cleanliness.

Do the renewing things

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Step out of “the world” for a faith refresher.

Do the peculiar things

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Bible camp games and activities are peculiar. Keep it weird.

Do the joyful things

“"For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Camp singing. Period.

Do the lasting things

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Core memories based on loving God and being a reflection of Him. That just can’t be topped.

I’m always thankful for our wonderful family at Chapel Hill, but I’m even MORE thankful for them this week. taken in Taylor Christian Camp-Lodge by @firedancerlost4u
