ENEMY LINES | MEET THE PERFORMER AND CHOREOGRAPHERMayumi Lashbrook:Mayumi (she/her) is a yonsei (fourth generation) Japanese Canadian settler who seeks to create transformative dance theatre experiences that invite attentive presence. Her primary practices span performance, choreography, production and education. A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University on the Dean’s List, she trained in Eurocentric dance forms until igniting her passion for Butoh. She utilizes these skillsets to choreograph and perform thoughtful works that bravely reveal our humanity. Mayumi is a 2025 nominee of the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Award and the Artistic Director of Hamilton based Aeris Körper, recipient of the 2024 Arts Creator Award. She is a mentee of renowned Japanese Canadian dance theatre artist Denise Fujiwara, as well as a company member of Fujiwara Dance Inventions. She has presented and screened her work in esteemed platforms such as Dusk Dances, CanAsian Dance, Fall for Dance North and her heralded work Enemy Lines has been presented across the country. Recent designs include 'This is How We Got Here', 'Women of the Fur Trade', and 'Reflections on Crooked Walking'. Other recent designs include 'Casey and Diana' for Western Canada Theatre', 'Clue' for Theatre Northwest, and 'A Doll's House Part 2' for Western Gold Theatre. Rebekah is also the Technical Director at Chemainus Theatre Festival. She has a BFA (Theatre) and MFA (Fine Arts) from the University of Victoria, where she is a Sessional Instructor and Lighting Supervisor. She lives, with her 2 cats, in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island - traditional territory of the Coast Salish People and home to the Cowichan Tribe. rebekahjohnson25.com Russell Wallace | Sound Design Russell Wallace is an award winning composer, producer and traditional singer from the St'at'imc/Lil’wat Nation (Salish). His music has been part of a number of film and television soundtracks and theatre/dance productions and as a musician has been part of a number of award winning groups. Prior to that he spent ten years touring with the Vancouver Opera Touring company. He has worked for many theatres including the Vancouver Playhouse, Theatre Calgary, The Citadel, Studio 58/Green Thumb, Touchstone Theatre, Pi Theatre, the Electric Company and numerous others. Previous ventures have included a number of premiere productions including Leslie Mildiner’s “Coming Up For Air”. Her work has crossed cultures and continents. She is honoured to be back home working in her home town and the homeland of her late Mother, Siam Dr. Lee Maracle. She lives by the teachings of her ancestors, the politics of her parental nations and the overarching heart of her family. She is an award winning and multi nominated performer, award nominated playwright who has moved into the directors chair in the last 25 years. Recent shows in town include Middletown at Pacific Theatre and Pride and Prejudice at The Gateway Theatre.Kaitlyn Yott | BeverlyKaitlyn Yott is glad to be returning for another season at the Firehall Arts Centre, having played Marie-Angelique in Frances Koncan’s Women of the Fur Trade last season and Candice in Pedro Chamale’s Peace Country in 2023. Kaitlyn is a Vancouver-based actor and writer of mixed Ts’msyen from Lax Kw’alaams, Japanese and European descent. Recent acting theatre credits include: Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women (Arts Club Theatre Company) Sunrise Betties (ITSAZOO Productions) Middletown (Pacific Theatre).Tyson Night | Martine MartenTyson Night is a Vancouver-based Plains Cree (Saulteaux, Treaty 6) artist, playwright, and performer. He began in improvisational theatre, developing a strong instinct for character and timing that continues to inform his work. His award-winning play HUNG UP received the Infinitheatre Write-On-Q Play Contest and has been developed with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and Calgary Arts Development. He has since adapted HUNG UP into a short film currently in pre-production, and is also developing BAND OFFICE, a rez comedy supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.His screen work includes In the Blink of an Eye- a Searchlight Production and he is currently developing film projects including A CALL FOR HELP and SIZE QUEEN. His debut short film, BYE, CHAT—which he wrote, produced, and second unit directed—is currently in post-production.
