ALL SAINTS SUNDAY IS NOVEMBER 1 - JOIN US!
On All Saints Sunday, we celebrate the lives, devotion, and example of members and friends of our congregation who died in the last year, as well as their immediate family members. With help from our larger-than-life puppet saints that have been a First Church tradition for many years, we also commemorate all God’s holy ones, known and unknown to us, who have now entered God’s joy. Our tradition teaches that a saint is anyone who is called and gifted by the Spirit to carry out a ministry of grace and reconciliation in the world, and who is responding generously. Our celebration will end with "Communion-in-the-round” and a lifting up of the names of all who are present in this sacred, liminal space across time and generations. by @firstchurchcambridge

THIS SUNDAY! ALL ARE WELCOME!
The First Church Shelter Oversight Committee invites you to the annual Doris Beauvais Luncheon and Mitch Snyder Awards Ceremony. Named in honor of one of the founders of the First Church Shelter, the luncheon is a celebration of advocacy work on behalf of those whose needs are not always met in our current society. This year’s awards will be presented to Sarah Patricia Ahern (Choice Recovery Coaching), Christina Bailey (Boston Healthcare for the Homeless), Etel Haxhiaj (Worcester, MA), Angel Rosario (Boston Public Health Commission), and Gianna Sandelli (Riverbend/Lowell House). by @firstchurchcambridge

If you are new to First Church — whether you've been here for one day, a few weeks, or a few months — join us after worship to get to know church leadership, members, and other newcomers. This gathering is a low-key way to get connected, as well as an opportunity to ask questions that you have about the church, religious life, or anything else that brings you here. Light refreshments will be provided. by @firstchurchcambridge

Homegoods Donation Drive: October 11 & 18
The Missions & Social Justice Committee is partnering with Furnishing Hope MA to collect household goods for families coming out of homelessness in the Cambridge area. We had a great response last Sunday, and you still have two more chances to bring stuff!

Here's the scoop:
On the first three Sundays of October, you are invited to bring new or like-new donations of dishes, silverware, sheets, towels, blankets, and other helpful kitchen and bathroom items. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. by @firstchurchcambridge

Social Justice Forum: Voting as a Sacred Right, a Holy Obligation
Sunday, October 4, 12:30 - 1:45 p.m.

This Sunday, join us for our Adult Formation Hour at 10 am; it's the first of five opportunities to uncover and explore our own soul stories. Through writing, drawing, meditation, and shared testimony, we hope to gain insight into ourselves, into one another, and into the divine. All are welcome!

Night Song Returns
Sunday evenings, beginning September 13, 7:30 - 8:15 p.m.

Night Song is a worship opportunity that offers stillness and sublime music in a darkened sanctuary for respite and reset. We all need time set aside from the demands of daily life and the issues facing our community and our world—a regular time to be still, to find clarity and purpose, and to center ourselves for the coming week. You’ll leave breathing more deeply and recharged to engage with your world.

Night Song is a hybrid offering of First Church for in-person attendance in the Sanctuary and viewing via livestream or listening at another time on the Night Song YouTube channel.

Everyone has a story. Spiritual autobiographies are the stories of the people, places, events, and influences that have shaped our relationship with the divine and our understanding of how to live as disciples of Jesus.

Join us for our Regathering season, beginning on September 13, as we connect with each other, ourselves, and God through uncovering and sharing our own spiritual autobiographies.
