It all started in Dallas, Texas. Who knew?

Part 2 of covering the best hotels in America: @rosewoodmansionturtlecreek

The story starts with a Texas oil heiress, an old Italian-inspired mansion that was supposed to get torn down, and an idea that luxury hotels didn’t all need to look and feel the same.

Fast-forward a few decades, and Rosewood is a global hotel heavyweight…41 properties and more on the way. Really incredible stuff here.

There are plenty of great hotel origin stories, especially here in America. So I guess we’ll take the reins and cover them. by @firstclassjerk

Biggest question: will guests get free access to the roof? It’s the best observation deck in New York. Harry Styles agrees.

The team behind The Little Nell in Aspen is bringing a hotel to New York. @thenellnewyork

Opening fall 2027.

The announcement came earlier this summer…but we just got our first look at what it’s going to look like inside.

A $350 million investment. 134 rooms set in a former office space inside Rockefeller Center. It’ll be the first hotel ever at Rockefeller Center…and, somehow, the first Relais & Châteaux hotel in New York City.

How is that possible?

What started at the base of Aspen Mountain is coming to the middle of Manhattan.

Quite the leap. Or jump, I guess. by @firstclassjerk

Domestic travel continues to be underrated. 🇺🇸

We are covering the best hotels in America. Part 1: @blackberryfarm.

The Beall family took over Blackberry Farm in 1976, and 50 years later, it remains family-owned and operated. Set across 4,200 acres in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, what started as a small country inn has become one of the great names in American hospitality. Food, wine, service, land….all of it right here in Tennessee.

So tell us what American hotel deserves the spotlight next? by @firstclassjerk

Delano is back in Miami…now, it’s expanding to Italy. Can the brand keep moving? Still pending our Miami visit…

Delano has announced its first-ever Italian property: Delano Puglia, opening in Monopoli in 2028.

Set on the Adriatic coast, the hotel will have 76 rooms, 13 suites, a destination restaurant by Paris Society, the return of the Rose Bar, The Source by Delano wellness concept, and a private membership program.

It’s another piece of a much bigger Delano expansion, with Miami, Paris, and Dubai all now open…they have New York, London, Marrakech now Italy all part of the brand’s growing map.

A Miami icon trying to become a global one. We’re curious to see where this goes. by @firstclassjerk

Fairmont Hotels…we must never forget.

There is so much history in these hotels…

And there’s a larger thread worth recognizing: Fairmont basically inherited the great age of railway hotels. Banff, Lake Louise, Château Laurier, Château Frontenac, Hotel Vancouver, Royal York—these weren’t simply places to sleep.

The railways built grand hotels to give wealthy travelers a reason to ride their trains across Canada. That’s probably the connective tissue for the whole story.

This brand deserves to be woken the F UP. See our take at the end. by @firstclassjerk

The newest luxury cruise ship is here. 5 days onboard with @explorajourneys. New video is LIVE💥

Comment CRUISE and we’ll send you the FULL VIDEO!

First off, thank you all for watching and tuning into our long-form videos. It’s something we’ve really enjoyed making and will continue to put a big emphasis on for the rest of this year and into next.

Our first cruise video…small ship luxury cruising is a world we’ve become personally curious about (hard to ignore), and what a heck of a way to start.

This is what the top suite on the newest luxury ship at sea looks like. @explorajourneys

EXPLORA III just hit the water…and we’re still thinking about the Owner’s Residence: a full living room, private bar, and a dining room built for eight. (With a room like this, you’ll certainly be making friends onboard).

The terrace runs the entire width of the ship’s aft. A whirlpool, an outdoor shower, and more outdoor space than most hotel rooms on land.

But here’s the best part: all 461 accommodations on EXPLORA III are ocean-facing suites with private balconies. So whichever room you’re in, you’re waking up to the water.

The neck pillow gone forever? @emirates

A few days back all the AvGeeks got giddy over a new headrest. I’m not sure who actually brings a neck pillow onto a plane…but we all know that moment when you wish you had a little more neck support.

I guess Emirates heard the call. Just bring your sanitizing wipes. by @firstclassjerk

A martini and a piano on a winter evening inside The Carlyle is New York magic. 🍸🎹

The most famous hotel bar in New York City @bemelmansbar

Located inside The Carlyle on the Upper East Side you’ll find Bemelmans.

The Carlyle has been holding court on the UES since 1930. Bemelmans Bar came later, named for Ludwig Bemelmans, the creator of Madeline, who painted the murals covering the walls in exchange for room and board (18 months of free lodging).

We say this a lot….New York changes fast. Thank Gooness a few places don’t. taken in The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel by @firstclassjerk

The birthplace of the Bloody Mary? 🍅 @stregisnewyork

For the full video, comment ‘NYC’ below.

The St. Regis New York has a wild history. It opened in 1904, built by John Jacob Astor IV, who tragically passed aboard the Titanic eight years later (1912).

Some say the St. Regis invented the Bloody Mary. Others point to Harry’s New York Bar in Paris. We love a good battle over who did it first.

A few months back, we filmed a video trying some of New York City’s best hotel lobby bars. Six stops, plenty of martinis, and a pretty good look at NYC hotel scene.

With fall approaching, it felt like the right time to bring this one back. It’s a video we’re proud of, and hopefully a series we can take to a few other great hotel cities.

We’ve always felt destined to live in a hotel…and this might be it. @someraroad

The Ritz-Carlton Residences are coming to Brooklyn Heights, taking over the former Hotel Bossert at 98 Montague Street.

And they’re not starting from scratch.

The Bossert opened in 1909 and is one of those great old New York buildings. Famously hosting the Brooklyn Dodgers’ celebration after winning the 1955 World Series (incredible). The landmark is getting another life.

The building will be restored and turned into The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights…private residences with Ritz-Carlton service, a 24-hour attended lobby, a collection of other amenities and, perhaps most importantly….a restaurant. Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group is opening its first full-service Brooklyn restaurant downstairs.

Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion slated for 2029.

Sidebar…yes, we know “The Ritz” and Ritz-Carlton are different. We don’t need to see those comments.

If anything, Ritz-Carlton should be honored every time someone calls it “The Ritz.”

“Where do you live?”....”At the Ritz in Brooklyn”...what a line. What a line. See you in Brooklyn? by @firstclassjerk
