i wish people were more positive 🤍

yes, there will be sleepless nights.
yes, you’ll be tired.
yes, you’ll wonder if you’re doing it right.

but there will also be moments that make you want to freeze time.

the sleepy cuddles.
the tiny hands reaching for you.

you can be grateful for your baby and still grieve the birth you thought you would have. 🤍

if your c-section was unexpected, i want you to know this:

you did not fail.

you did not take the easy way out.

you did not miss out on becoming “more of a mother” because you didn’t have the birth you imagined.

sometimes birth asks us to let go of the plan we carried for months — and trust a path we never expected to take.

maybe you laboured for hours.
maybe your birth plan changed in a moment.
maybe you were scared.
maybe you’re still processing it.

none of that changes what you did.

you made a decision.
you endured.
you healed.
you held your baby.

and that baby is here because of you. 🤍

if you’re a c-section mama, save this for the day you need the reminder:

your birth was real.
your birth mattered.
and you are no less of a mother because of how your baby arrived.

a bowl of fruit isn’t a failed dinner, it’s still food. skipping the sleep training script isn’t giving up, it’s trusting your own read on your baby 🥰

it's impossible to overstate the importance of postpartum preparation and care. first time moms are bombarded with marketing on things to buy for the baby, but nothing about needing to take care of yourself after possibly doing the most challenging thing: birth.

the baby will survive without a nursery, but not without the mother 🤍 it's the most special time, but can easily be challenging and tiring as well - it's extremely normal to feel them both and still be happy 🫶🏻

this is your permission to do anything to prepare for protecting yourself first: because that protects the baby 🥰

one day these arms won’t be the ones he runs to. one day “mama” won’t be the first word he says when he’s scared. one day i’ll have to let him go a little more than i did the day before.

but not today.

today he’s still small enough to fit right here. still young enough to need me in the middle of the night. still mine to hold a little longer.

motherhood is loving someone through every version of who they’re becoming — even the versions that mean they need you less.

can we talk about the word “normal” for a second? ❤️‍🩹

we call natural/vaginal birth “normal delivery.” we don’t mean anything by it - it’s just what we grew up hearing. but sit with it for a second and it starts to feel a little different 🫠

if one is “normal,” what’s the other one? less than? a backup plan? not quite the real thing?💔

think about the mom who went through hours of contractions only to end up in an emergency c-section anyway. the mom who never had a choice to begin with. the mom who planned every detail of a natural birth and then had to let go of that plan in the room.

none of them had a “lesser” experience. they had a different one. and every single one of them gave everything they had

maybe the goal isn’t to rank birth experiences. maybe it’s to stop using language that quietly does it for us.
she didn’t have a “normal” delivery or an “abnormal” one. she had a birth. and she survived it, however it happened 💌⭐️
