Depart Tuesday at 9 PM → Return Thursday at 6 AM

🗓️ November 6–8
Depart Friday at 9 PM → Return Sunday at 6 AM

🎟️ $450 per person
🚤 Limited to 22 passengers

This fun El Niño season keeps going but there have certainly been some twists and turns along the way, especially over the last week.

This young angler landed two very nice dorado yesterday aboard the New San Mateo.

Finding the right kelp has been the name of the game and swinging and missing no matter how hard we look for kelps is definitely a possibility!

Coming prepared with the right tackle AND being mentally prepared for a long driving and looking day will definitely help.

A new week means new chances and we are anxious to see what that looks like!

To Our Friends, Family, and Community,

On November 2nd, Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching will begin a new chapter as we move into temporary trailers adjacent to the parking structure during the Dana Point Harbor renovation.

After 55 years in Dana Point Harbor, this is a significant moment for our family, our employees, and the generations of customers who have become part of the Dana Wharf story.

While our location within the harbor is changing, Dana Wharf will remain OPEN and continue operating our daily fishing trips, whale watching adventures, cruises, and private charters throughout construction.

In 1971, at just 34 years old, our father and Dana Wharf founder, Don Hansen, signed his lease in Dana Point Harbor. Dana Wharf began operating right away from a trailer, welcoming customers and checking them in for trips while the harbor was still taking shape.

Now, 55 years later, we find ourselves returning to trailers, just as our father did when he started Dana Wharf. We know he would have embraced this new chapter, and we are proud to carry everything he taught us into the future.

Our employees are the lifeblood of our business, and supporting them and their families remains one of our highest priorities.

We ask you to please continue coming down to Dana Point Harbor. Take a fishing trip. Join us for whale watching. Bring your family, invite your friends, and continue making memories on the water with us.

You can help us simply by spreading the word that Dana Wharf is OPEN, operating daily, and ready to welcome you!

While our surroundings may change, our commitment to our customers, our employees, our community, and our father’s legacy never will.

🎣❤️ Congratulations to Fish For Life on 17 years of taking amazing children out on the water, teaching them to fish, and creating memories for the whole family!

Join us this Saturday, October 17, as we celebrate their final trip of the 2026 season. Come cheer on the kids as they make their way down the red carpet and help us give them a warm send-off!

This trip also marks our last Fish For Life check-in outside Dana Wharf’s original office, where Don Hansen started our family business 55 years ago. For 17 years, we’ve welcomed these children and their families right here, and that tradition will continue as we move into temporary trailers in the parking lot during the harbor renovations. ❤️

Thank you, Jim and the entire Fish For Life team, for making these experiences possible. Here’s to many more years of fishing, friendship, and unforgettable days on the water!

Yesterday's tough fishing was a distant memory!

Epic dorado fishing went down for today's 3/4 day anglers aboard the Sum Fun for Capt Mike and his crew. Final fish count:
137 dorado
16 yellowfin tuna
12 yellowtail
2 skipjack

Flylined sardines got the job done on 1/0 hooks and 25lb line.

El Niño 2026 has been a blast and it just goes to show you no 2 days are ever the same!

Maybe the "dress like one catch one" theory is true?

We're hoping to get the offshore scene back on track after a few days of slower fishing. Water temperatures are still great in the low 70°'s and with the warm weather we're very optimistic!

50 fathom feeder!

There isn't a stretch of water right now, even after the storm battered it all, that isn't capable of showing us it's not over.

This striped marlin was caught yesterday aboard the Sum Fun in on the beach, in one of those stretches of water.

Nice work Capt Chase and crew and the @tetsuolures 🤙 with the flashabou does it again!

Monday morning memory 🩵 A little Disney magic from the Dana Wharf archives! 🎣✨

On August 31, 1994, Disney chartered the Sum Fun with Captain Todd Mansur and created this special Mickey Mouse “Sum Fun” T-shirt for every person on their charter. They also gave shirts to Captain Todd, Mike Hansen, and members of the crew.

We’ve had this T-shirt hanging in a frame since 1994—a treasured piece of Dana Wharf Sportfishing history and a reminder of a special day on the water.

With gratitude to the late Barton K. “Bo” Boyd, then president of Disney Consumer Products, for creating this remarkable piece. More than three decades later, we’re proud to share this memory and honor his part in our story. 💙
