a wonky vase for a wonky day

some days i let the wheel spin. and with it comes a reflection. A tangible echo of my wonky day. The clay remembers every tremor, every hesitant touch, and every second guess. Much like my own mind holds onto the week’s emotions. Whether I like it or not, this piece carries the weight of those moments. A ceramic testament to a day I’d rather forget, yet now, can’t. by @fishforarts

late ass NCECA post because this year has non stop smacked me tf around. I feel so incredibly grateful to have surrounded myself with so many amazing clay people. my love for this convention doesn’t only come from the convention centers and free clay, but to see so much of the clay world with the people who have seen me struggle the most. Our love for dirt doesn’t need to be explained but I hope you feel it a little of it through my reel <3333

When does the process of making hold more value than the final product?

Becoming a teacher has brought me back to this piece. I find myself teaching my students something I was learning through this work. Knowing when to step away from something that no longer serves you. Even if that means throwing it away.

“It’s just a ball of dirt. We have more.” And we really do. But after spending time shaping a piece of clay, it becomes difficult to see it as just dirt. You become attached to it—to the time, frustration, and care you’ve poured into it.

I think there is something especially beautiful about watching a “first-time” student struggle to let go. It reminds me that making is never just about what we end up with. Sometimes, it is about learning when to hold on, and when to release.

trimming giant bowls with a little life update :p

taught my first wheel throwing class last week for a gay bday party, like cmon. everything that is meant to be is so undeniably meant to be. i am so grateful i really feel like im exactly where i need to be. Going to make a wet box soon and start hand building in my apartment. Probably going to throw my wheel on my balcony in the winter. i’ll be selling work all through sale season. the fish just needs a kiln, but literally don’t we all. by @fishforarts

Looking back at my BFA show almost two months later, I’m almost embarrassed by how much of myself I left on that floor.

Becoming Under Tension explores the transformative power of pressure and resistance in the journey of self-discovery. My ceramic forms capture moments of profound change, where internal and external forces converge, creating a crack. Each piece exists in the space between fragility and strength. Reflecting how tension, whether physical or emotional, can become a catalyst for growth.

Growth is not solely about becoming more, growth is responding to the limits of the space that holds you. The moment when growth begins to press against those limits. This work sits within that tension. Between appreciation for where you come from and the discomfort of needing to move beyond it.

No matter how fuzzy my flocked collection may be, it will always make my hands strain just looking at it.

Thank you to everyone who continues to inspire and influence me more than you’ll ever know. There is something sacred about enduring alongside people who understand what it means to devote themselves completely to a craft. That kind of bond can’t be replicated. It can only be lived.

overwhelmed is a complete understatement. to learn so much about yourself in such little time. to test every limit of your mind and heart. i’ve found so much and lost even more. thank you to everyone that held me up when my body couldn’t. you gave my heart the ability to be heard. the show is over, ill post about it and my graduation soon. but for now i just want to get a job and buy my cats a cat size sofa. by @fishforarts
