It’s officially peak buzzbait season. Specifically for me it’s finesse buzzbait season. I usually fish a 1/8-1/4 oz. Buzzbait with a chunk of a stick worm or a trailer like a @greatlakes_finesse drop minnow to add weight or incorporate just a little bit of movement. The strike king mini buzzbait and the @booyah_baits micro pond buzz are my favorite smaller ones. My favorite 1/4 ounce ones are the @bluerockcustomtackle bossman buzzbait or the @buckeyelures buzz. Black buzzbaits or bluegill colors tend to be the best for me but I have found that a buzzbait without a skirt can be extremely effective. Also you’ll notice I try to modify most of my buzzbaits. Crimp the rivet so it can’t move as well as the z bend in the frame to allow the hook to ride lower in the water. I’m ideally looking for a little squeak out of the buzzbait to just get a little bit of drawing power. I fish these on a medium or medium light rod for the 1/8 and the 1/4 ounce is a medium heavy with 14-16 pound copolymer line or light braid. Spinning gear or bfs for the 1/8. The notorious Finesse TRD by zman. This thing Realy is the real deal! Durable as all get out and buoyant. Not to mention the literal endless rigging possibilities. Dropshot,Neko,Ned,Texas rig and so much more. Personally I’ve used this a lot on a Ned as you can imagine but I think pitching this thing around reeds and brush with a worm hook or EWG would be awesome.All sorts of colors work but the deal and green pumpkin goby are probably my two favorite colors. by @fishingonthebrain

If anyone can help me get in touch with @trokarhooks I’d be greatly appreciative. I want to be an affiliate with them so bad because they are the hooks I trust. These are my very favorite books on the market. Not only are they WICKED sharp but they are super strong and American made! Plus they have a hook for just about everything you could want. My three favorites are the TK137,TK120,and the TK180. Those three hooks can get a lot done. Dropshot,wacky rig,Texas rigs and Carolina rigs. Either way these are just impressive hooks that I think everyone should try. Absolutely the best! by @fishingonthebrain

My favorite topwater bait besides a frog. Buzzbaits are excellent for covering water and getting bites. I usually fish a 3/8 or lighter buzzbait but will fish the @booyah_baits squelcher in a 1/2 ounce size because the big blade keeps it on top better. Also I fish buzzbaits with and without a skirt just to change it up. They both be big though. My four favorite Texas rig baits. I use a 5/16 tungsten weight 60% of the time and a 4/0 hook. The hammer craw works really well in dirty water and the dinger is just frankly the ace in the hole. Christie craw and critter are too clean to miss out on using. They both have such good drawing power and still maintain a subtle sense of action and presence. I recommend colors that either match the natural forage for you or if you want it plain and simple get bream or green pumpkin. The Booyah mobster. Best swimjig I think that has ever been made. The mouse head design deflects off cover and comes through grass like a razor. Checkout one of the coolest ways I’ve seen a @yum_baits salt craw rigged. On a Neko rig!! Personally I think this is a better option than just a worm unless the worm is getting better bites. I used a 5mm @vmchooks crossover ring and a #2 neko hook to achieve this. Also a 1/16 Neko weight in the tail. Just goes to show the versatility of this old school bait. Possibly the most fun rod I’ve bought in a while. The @falcon_rods BuCoo streamside SR is a very good medium light rod for stuff like @greatlakes_finesse sneaky underspins or small hair jigs. I fish it on a Shimano nasci with 10lb @yozuri_lures super braid and a 8-10 lbs leader. This little combo casts a mile and is definitely one I’ll be using more this spring and summer. #finesse by @fishingonthebrain
