Nascemos da vontade de conhecer o produto na sua origem, de valorizar quem o produz e de contar as histórias que fazem parte da nossa cultura gastronómica.
Por isso, começamos onde tudo começa: no mar.
Visitámos a lota de Peniche para compreender melhor a pesca,os pescadores, a sazonalidade e as rotas .
Ao longo deste projeto vamos dar voz aos pescadores, produtores, fornecedores e artesãos que fazem parte da riqueza gastronómica portuguesa.
Mais do que uma escola, queremos ser um ponto de encontro entre o mar, o produto e a cozinha.

We were born from a desire to discover products at their source, to value those who produce them, and to tell the stories that are part of our gastronomic heritage.

For this reason, we began where it all starts: at sea.

We visited the fish auction market in Peniche to gain a deeper understanding of the fishing industry, the fishermen, seasonality, and fishing routes.

Throughout this project, we aim to give a voice to the fishermen, producers, suppliers, and artisans who contribute to the richness of Portuguese gastronomy.

More than a school, we want to be a meeting point between the sea, the product, and the kitchen.

O Nuno e a sua mercearia
Na verdade o seu nome não é Nuno, é Provinbhai Patel mas adoptou o nome do antigo proprietário.
A sua merceraria com fruta e legumes frescos é a mais movimentada da rua Luís de Camões.
Um entra e saí de pessoas do bairro mas também dos que visitam o bairro.
À porta faz uma seleção diária e imaculada de produtos frescos, é o seu convite de entrada ao seu espaço. A atenção e o carinho com que recebe todos é espelho do seu espírito e um ótimo ponto de partida para conhecer o bairro de Alcântara.

Nuno and His Grocery Store

His name is not actually Nuno — it’s Provinbhai Patel — but he adopted the name of the former owner.

His grocery store, filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, is the busiest spot on Rua Luís de Camões. A constant flow of people comes and goes: neighbors from the area, but also those visiting the neighborhood.

Every morning, he carefully and impeccably arranges a selection of fresh produce outside the shop — his invitation for people to step inside. The attention and warmth with which he welcomes everyone reflects his spirit, and makes his store the perfect starting point to discover the neighborhood of.

Sr. Antunes
Um verdadeiro emblema do bairro de Alcântara. A drogaria que passou de geração em geração ainda permanece resistente às ambivalências dos dias de hoje.
Antunes é um verdadeiro amigo da comunidade, atento à sua gente e às suas necessidades. "Vem cá imensas pessoas à procura de artigos que não encontram nas grandes superfícies, servimos o bairro".
E nesse momento entra uma cliente à procura de goma para os seus tecidos, ensinaram-nos os truques dos produtos de branquear e de engomar, enquanto o Sr Antero retirava os produtos guardados no recanto da loja.
Alcântara é casa e é um orgulho encontrar a história do bairro marcado nas suas paredes.

Mr. Antunes

A true emblem of the neighborhood of Alcântara.
This traditional hardware and household store, passed down from generation to generation, continues to stand strong against the changing tides of modern times.

Mr. Antunes is a true friend of the community, always attentive to its people and their needs.
“Many people come here looking for items they can no longer find in large retail stores. We serve the neighborhood.”

As we spoke, a customer came in searching for fabric starch. Along the way, we learned old tricks about whitening and ironing products, while Mr. Antero carefully retrieved items stored in the hidden corners of the shop.

Alcântara feels like home. And it is a privilege to find the history of the neighborhood etched into its walls, its gestures, and the people who keep it alive every single day.

João traz a navalha ao peito.
Barbeiro de alma e coração, João dá vida à rua Luís de Camões, com um espírito bem lisboeta e hospitaleiro. De sorriso sempre no rosto está sempre pronto para dois dedos de conversa e um corte rápido e preciso. Conhece bem os recantos do bairro. A equipa jovem dá um novo espírito à antiga barbearia das ruas mais dinâmicas de Alcântara.

João carries the razor close to his chest.

A barber through and through, he brings life to Rua Luís de Camões with a truly Lisbon spirit and a warm, welcoming attitude. Always smiling, he is ready for a friendly chat and a quick, precise cut full of style. He knows every corner of the neighbourhood and welcomes each client like an old friend.

The young team brings fresh energy to this traditional barbershop, located on one of Alcântara’s most vibrant streets, blending heritage and modernity in a space made for the community.

Erica, a Torra
Uma aventureira com os pés bem acentes na terra.
É a definição desta “mulher de armas” que trouxe a Portugal um sonho. A torra foi no início um projeto de distribuição de grão verde brasileiro para torrefação. Rapidamente Erica percebeu que precisava de um local para fazer a torra deste grão. Depois de visitar vários locais pela cidade de Lisboa, foi Alcântara que lhe trouxe a sensação de casa, pela proximidade do rio e pela vida de bairro.
Este sentimento de família, de pertença está em cada café servido, todos os grãos são torrados em “casa”, respeitando cada grão e origem.
Já sentem o cheirinho a café?

Erica, the Roastery

An adventurer with her feet firmly on the ground.
That is the perfect way to describe this strong and determined woman who brought a dream to Portugal. Torra began as a project focused on distributing Brazilian green coffee beans for roasting. It did not take long for Erica to realize she needed a place of her own to roast those beans. After visiting several locations across Lisbon, it was Alcântara that gave her the feeling of home, with its closeness to the river and vibrant neighborhood life.

This sense of family and belonging can be found in every cup of coffee served. Every bean is roasted “at home,” with respect for each origin and every individual grain.

Can you already smell the coffee in the air?

“Sede”, “café do bairro”, “casa de afetos”…assim os descrevem.
Pedro Dias traz a Santo Amaro de Alcântara a tradição, a cultura, a jovialidade, a informalidade, o romantismo e a arte. Um mundo dentro de um café que traz nele a história do seu pai, do seu irmão e agora a sua.
Entre conversas fáceis o Café Dias traz na história a tradição mas vive nos dias de hoje da criatividade, da sede pela procura de sentido e de sentimento. Atrai as várias gerações diariamente e seduz forasteiros às segundas com os “ditos à segunda”, onde se declamam poemas, textos, rimas e provérbios. E às quintas onde vibra o jazz com convidados especiais.

Pedro Dias brings to Santo Amaro de Alcântara a blend of tradition, culture, youthfulness, informality, romance, and art. An entire world within a café that carries the story of his father, his brother, and now his own.

Filled with effortless conversation, Café Dias honors tradition through its history while embracing the creativity, curiosity, and emotion of the present day. It welcomes different generations every day and charms visitors on Mondays with “Ditos à Segunda” (“Monday Sayings”), where poems, texts, rhymes, and proverbs are shared aloud. On Thursdays, the café comes alive with jazz performances and special guest musicians.

Rui Costa, wineclick
Foi com o Rui que conhecemos o termo “carrileiro”. Termo utilizado antigamente para os alcantarenses, a origem advém da forte ligação histórica da freguesia aos caminhos de ferro no final do século XIX.
Nascido e criado em Alcântara, volta ao bairro num tropeço, quase como destino.
A loja wineclick surge tão rapidamente como a sua paixão pelo mundo dos vinhos. Entramos na sua garrafeira com a sensação que estamos numa biblioteca, onde cada garrafa é um livro de histórias prontas a serem contadas. O Rui é o narrador que trata cada uma delas como única. O importante não é a quantidade, o importante é a história.

O Fishop & Culinary School está a chegar a Alcântara e é um orgulho contar e fazer parte da história do bairro.

It was with Rui that we first heard the term “carrileiro” — an old nickname once used for the people of Alcântara, rooted in the parish’s strong historical connection to the railways at the end of the 19th century.

Born and raised in Alcântara, he returned to the neighborhood almost by chance, as if it were destiny.

Wineclick appeared as naturally and swiftly as his passion for the world of wine. Stepping into his wine shop feels like entering a library, where every bottle is a book filled with stories waiting to be told. Rui is the narrator who treats each one as unique. What matters is not the quantity — what matters is the story.

We are arriving in Alcântara, and it is a source of pride for us to be part of this community.

A mercearia de sempre, o café que se sente o cheiro ao virar da esquina , a drogaria que tem tudo aquilo que já não se encontra, a garrafeira onde o Rui escolhe connosco o vinho certo — não o mais caro, mas o perfeito para aquele jantar especial. A barbearia, de navalha afiada e conversa fácil, onde o tempo desacelera e cada gesto torna Alcântara mais jovem.

Antigos e novos projetos que escolhem este bairro para começar ou continuar histórias de vida.

É desta mistura que nasce um bairro mais forte, mais próximo, mais humano, no fundo mais Lisboa.
