When I first started bouldering I wasn’t a huge fan. I felt like I wasn’t strong enough & had no clue what I was doing, so I would quit after a few climbs. The only upper body workouts I do is when I’m reeling in fish & being as though it’s winter in NJ, I haven’t been doing much of that. After a few more trips to the climbing gym I started to feel more confident and have to remind myself, “you’re going to fall, that’s okay. you’re going to get tired, take a break, that’s okay. you might not get it the first try, that’s okay. get back up, regroup, replan, & try again”

This particular climb I’ve wanted to do since i started, but knew I’d have to work up to it. 1st try: fail. 2nd try: fail. 3rd try: fail. I took a 10 minute break, watched the videos I took so I could fix my mistakes, and got back up to try again. 4th try: got it! 5th try: easy peasy. This is just rock climbing, but gave me a lesson about life. Third time around isn’t always the charm, but if you don’t get back up and try again you’ll never know what you could’ve accomplished ✨

wanted to get in on the striper action & was not disappointed! finally caught my pb bass at 40” on the diamond jig! 🙌🏼🤍

it was my first time fishing on a head boat in new jersey, so I really had no idea what to expect. i brought a few lures that I wasn’t sure would even work (bucktails, spoons, diamond jig) & of course once I get on the boat, everyone had on paddle tails which I didn’t even think to bring (go figure). Already being the only girl on the boat I wasn’t going to go asking someone for a lure (we love social anxiety), so I tied on a diamond jig and kept casting until this fella was on the end of my line! 🤙🏼

stayed warm in 50 degree weather with my @avidgear windward jacket!

Just fluke it.
first flatty in the books! 🤙🏼

the thing that got me hooked on fishing was that there’s always something new to learn every time you’re out there, especially when targeting a species you haven’t caught before. this was one of those days where I had no clue what I was rigging on the rod, no clue how I should be jigging the rod, or even what the feeling of the bite was going to be. That’s where the awesome people in this fishing community come into play. My friend taught me everything I needed to know & after a couple minutes I got this fella in the boat! He wasn’t a keeper so he lived to see another day. Definitely a keeper memory. Moral of the story: Get Outside & experience something new! 🩵🙌🏼
