Balo practice 😛

learning this instrument is the main reason I fought to get the west african ensemble back so you best believe I’m enjoying this! It’s so nice learning actual grooves instead of just riffin it by @fishybeeats

Brain challenge cause why not 😝
green scales but as 6lets, all I tried before this was C scale to make sure it worked, so this is a pretty decent first rep 🙂‍↕️
my hands definitely wanted to switch around cause I’ve been doing a lot of left hand scales so doing it off the right this fast short circuited my brain, but overall decent 🤑 by @fishybeeats

Ghost Garden - Adam Hopper
learned notes for 1 hour and cleaned for 1 hour

My senior recital marimba solo is difficult and being taken so slow rn that I wanted to just speedrun a solo I’ve never learned, and one of my students was playing this for me after my practice time so I thought it would be cool to learn it and not need the sheets while listening to him.
Even though it’s not perfect, I really liked just speedrunning a solo and I’m probably gonna do it more often cause it’ll also help my sightreading 😋 by @fishybeeats

final rehearsal run of pulse 2026 !!

Deciding I wasn’t going to do Pulse after this season was one of the hardest choices I will ever make, but it’s for the best. Knowing this was my last season from the very first rehearsal gave me a completely different approach to the entire season, and I don’t think I would have enjoyed this season as much as I did. The bonds I made with the members and the staff felt so magical, and there’s definitely a few people in the ensemble I wish things could’ve gone differently with, but some bridges must burn. The decision I made back in September has finally gotten back to me, but I can’t wait to watch pulse from the other side :’) by @fishybeeats

Comptine d’un autre été, l’aprés-midi Cover

Beautiful movie score by Yann Tiersen that was used in my freshman year indoor ballad, and I can’t get it out of my head so I figured I’d learn it by ear really quick. by @fishybeeats

Swirls of Decadence by Nathan Daughtrey from his book Songs of Venus

I’m so obsessed with this piece and the constant lateral flow of it (I had to make my lateral chops better to play this)

I plan on getting a proper recording of it but this video I got with my phone in a tree is pretty good minus the wind by @fishybeeats
