One of the things that can hold you back when you grow up hunting in a bait state is becoming accustomed to walking to a stand and waiting for deer to show up because they know food is there.

When I stepped away from that and started truly hunting deer, I realized the hunt doesn’t start when I reach my destination. It starts the moment I step into the woods.

Especially now that I’m chasing fair chase deer on public land, learning to read sign, understand deer movement, pay attention to the terrain, and become more intentional with every step has changed the way I hunt.

Woodsmanship is something I’ve worked hard on over the last year or so, and I’m finally seeing it pay off.

I still have a lot to learn, but that’s what makes this so rewarding. Every season, every mistake, and every hunt teaches me something new.

The goal isn’t just to see more deer. It’s to become a better hunter. 🏹🌲 #newhunter #tip #woodsmanship #hunting by @fit2hunt_kh

I got my first turkey back, and I’m so proud of this bird!

I worked HARD for this one, and having it back as a beautiful reminder of the experience makes it that much more special.

Turkey hunting has taught me patience, persistence, and just how rewarding it is when hard work pays off. This bird will always mean more to me than a mount. It represents the work, the memories, and the love for the hunt that keeps me coming back.

Can’t wait to hang this one up! 🦃🏹🔥 #goals #hunting by @fit2hunt_kh

Last hunt on a piece of land I grew up hunting most of my life. Glad to close this chapter on a good note. ❤️ Now it’s back to public land, mobile hunting, and finding something with handles to drag. 🏹🦌#fit2hunt #drag #bowhunting by @fit2hunt_kh
