Athlete Spotlight: Mindy Irish

At 51, Mindy Irish is not slowing down. She is building, growing, competing, and proving what is possible when a woman refuses to believe her best years are behind her.

Mindy is an IFBB Pro Fit Model athlete, Masters 50+, wife, mom of four, NASM Personal Trainer, prep coach, posing coach, and the first 50+ athlete to earn an IFBB Pro card in Fit Model.

Her journey did not start with everything perfectly lined up. After five pregnancies in six years, she found herself obese and sugar addicted. She started where she was, rebuilt her habits, stepped into the weight room, and kept showing up.

Thirteen years later, she earned her IFBB Pro card at the Pittsburgh Natural.

What stands out most is not just the title. It is the patience, discipline, faith, resilience, and long-term commitment behind it.

Mindy is a reminder to every Masters woman watching:

It is not too late.
You are not done.
You are still allowed to want more.

After being at my Pro debut 3️⃣ weeks ago and at the show yesterday for clients and trophy presenting, my passion for this has really picked up. The industry is on fire and there is a lot of opportunity for us Masters athletes!

Now we have 2026 Olympia results that I plan to study for Bikini and Fit Model. I do this to best guide others and myself in the process.

What fuels me is that we CAN continue to improve with time. The world tells us we should be fat, sick and tired as we age. Decline is inevitable. ❌

✅ I have chosen to flip the script!

I haven’t bought into that. I’m 50, almost 51, and almost 52 in these pictures. I study my craft and give it due diligence. I make my wellness a priority and I feel 18!

➡️ We CAN improve with time. It’s truly a mindset. I ❤️ that I have this process in this season of my life. It’s a good use of time and mental space, keeping me sharp and happy!

I’m patient and willing to learn. The industry shifts and we need to stay up with the trends.

Overall I enjoy the challenge and I’m here to be developed. That’s what makes this all so fun to me! 👏

I love to teach. It runs in my family line. I distinctly remember where I was when my Mom (a teacher) spoke into me, “Mindy, you’re a teacher.”

I eventually ended up in teaching school, only after trying to execute “my plan” and not God’s for me. I got there after a school change and then a major change.

I was later selected by my Indiana University professors as the “1998 Physical Education Student of the Year.” It was an honor! ❤️

I don’t work in the school systems anymore, but this is my classroom. I train and pose ladies here at this quaint garage gym at my home in Fishers, IN.

@bra.ndynikole here has been coaching with me since February of 2024. She’s getting ready for her third show with me as her Coach. I run her training, posing, nutrition and show preps.

What’s fun is we get to do this next show on 10.17, the @npc_kybourbon_state, together. I’m doing Pro Fit Model and she will be doing Amateur Fit Model.

FIRST SHOW IN THE BOOKS 🏅🥈

Renee has totally transformed her physique in the last two years. If you follow her journey you’ll see her go from uncertain and novice to determined and dedicated. It’s overwhelmingly inspiring to be around.

A first stage asks a lot of anyone but @renee_oconnor14 met every bit of it. So much drive and a strength that you notice the moment she walks into a room. She doesn’t wait for confidence to show up; she decides and follows through. At 21?! she was the queen of backstage energy, lifting up everyone around her. We are SO PROUD.

She walked away with 🥇 and 🥈 medals, but the real win was watching her become who she already knew she could be.

As she heads into this semester, we know she’ll keep conditioning, keep improving, and keep showing up until she’s ready to take that stage again. We can’t wait to watch her grow into this sport, see it become second nature to her, and see where she goes from here ⬆️

Renee, having you at Invictus is a gift. Having you as a client feels like a sisterhood. We are so proud of you and so grateful to have been part of this chapter. There aren’t enough words for how much we love this positive, passionate, fiercely determined woman. 🥇🥈

17 years in on this Reset and I finally figured it out….

✅ It’s a productive use of mental space:

-Planning out my food and then preparing it

-Writing out my training and showing up

-Setting my AM routine, getting up at my alarm and executing

This all has HUGE paybacks. Huge!

➡️ I’m highly rewarded and happy with myself when I set a plan and follow thru. I greatly value being consistent.

We are just 4 days out to the next NPC Indiana show on 9.26.26, the @npc_battle_of_the_bend!

I was invited to present trophies at this inaugural show and I’m honored at the ask. This will be my 16th time to present for now 3 promoters in the state since 2019!

It’s also a blessing because I have 3 posing clients in the show: @komendabernadette in Figure, @destinyxraine in Bikini, and @kimsfablife in Fit Model. What a gift to be there to support them in person that day!

I will arrive early to check on each athlete and do final posing looks. Then I’ll get hair and make-up done, catch the prejudging, and hop in my dress to present for finals. What a full day ahead!
