If you’re benching heavy but your shoulders always feel cooked after… this is probably why.

When Larry Wheels talks about tucking your elbows on the bench press, he’s not just nitpicking form — he’s protecting your shoulders and unlocking more power.

Here’s what elbow tuck actually does:

• Keeps your shoulders in a safer, stronger position
• Reduces unnecessary stress on the rotator cuff
• Engages more chest and triceps instead of dumping tension into the front delts
• Creates a tighter bar path (stronger off the chest)
• Lets you press heavier without beating up your joints

Flaring your elbows out at 90° might “feel” strong at first… but long term, it’s a shoulder injury waiting to happen.

A slight tuck (not extreme) keeps your upper arms around 45–75° from your torso. That’s where strength and longevity meet.

More weight doesn’t build your chest.
Better mechanics do.

Next time you bench: Set your scapula.
Drive your feet.
Tuck your elbows.
Press with intent.

Train smart. Lift long. 💪

Want 93% MORE Muscle Gains? Just Rest Longer.

A 2016 study by Brad Schoenfeld found that resting 3 minutes between sets led to nearly double the muscle growth compared to 1-minute rests. 🤯

Short rest periods = less recovery = less performance in the next set.
Longer rest = more reps, more volume, more growth 💪

Stop rushing your workouts. Rest smart — grow fast.
Save this if you're serious about progress 🔁

Instead of staying completely upright, slightly lean forward and control the movement through a deep lat stretch before driving your elbows back.

The goal isn’t to turn every row into a “lat-only” exercise — it’s to shift more emphasis toward the lats while still keeping your core braced and lower back controlled.

Focus on:
→ Shoulder-width or slightly wider grip
→ Controlled forward lean
→ Full lat stretch
→ Strong contraction
→ Keep your lower back stable
→ Don’t chase weight at the expense of form

Build your back width AND thickness with better execution. 💪

The difference isn’t always about lifting heavier — rep control matters.

Chris Bumstead uses controlled reps and a slow eccentric on movements like the incline dumbbell press to keep tension on the chest and make every rep count.

Try this 4-second negative on your next chest workout:

⬇️ 4 seconds down
⬆️ 1 second up
🔥 8–12 controlled reps

A slower eccentric increases time under tension and can help you maintain better control and focus on the chest muscles throughout the movement.

If your goal is chest growth, muscle hypertrophy, bigger pecs, and better chest activation, stop rushing through your reps.

Control the weight. Control the rep. Make the chest work. 💪

Save this for your next push day / chest workout.

There’s a reason CBUM’s reps look so clean. His elbows stay controlled, his movement stays consistent, and he doesn’t rely on momentum to move the weight. Every rep is focused on keeping tension where it belongs — the triceps. 🔥

If you’re doing rope pushdowns, don’t just copy the exercise. Study the execution. Small details in your form can completely change how a movement feels and performs.

Control the weight. Lock in your form. Make every rep count.
