You haven't lost yourself. You've just been looking through the wrong lens.

The world gives you one that measures your worth in output, your peace in circumstances and your identity in what you do for everyone else.

Fitrah Framing is the practice of putting down that lens and picking up another. One rooted in who Allah says you are. In the wisdom of the Qur'an. In the nature He placed inside you before the world got there first.

Same life. Completely different view. 🤍

This account exists for the mum who knows there's something deeper available to her. Come back to your fitrah.

Reframing life through the lens of fitrah.

Putting the Umm back in Ummah.

Assalamu alaykum, I'm Shaina 🤍

I trained as a teacher, worked in early years, thought I understood children. Then I became a mother, and realised I knew nothing at all.

This is my story, the anxiety, the searching, and how faith led me back to myself. It's also why I built Fitrah Framing.

If you're ready to start where I wish I had, comment "Workshop" and I'll send you the link to join my free live workshop.

Nobody prepares you for who you become when you become a mother.

Motherhood changes the way we spend our days, carry responsibility, and understand love.

But beneath all that we do, there is another journey quietly unfolding..

The journey of the mother herself.

Fitrah Motherhood is a free live workshop rooted in Islamic Psychology, beginning not with behaviour, but with the soul.

Together, we will reflect on what it means to rise through motherhood, reconnect with the fitrah Allah placed within us, and nurture the next generation from a heart connected to Him.

For mothers feeling lost in the shift, mums-to-be preparing for this journey, and mothers ready to embrace this chapter with intention.

Tuesday, 4th August

Maryam (AS) was one of the greatest women to ever live, yet she still wasn't spared the struggle.

She experienced labour, isolation, and misunderstanding. Allah could have removed every hardship. Instead, He met her within it with guidance, provision, and, in His perfect timing, relief.

One reflection we can take from her story is that Allah doesn't always remove hardship immediately. Sometimes, He provides what we need for the next step. And perhaps, through the struggle, our hearts learn to rely upon Him more deeply.

For mothers, this offers a gentle reminder that the seasons stretching us are not necessarily signs that Allah is distant. They may become invitations to trust Him more deeply, rely upon Him more fully, and discover His care in ways we hadn't expected.

As we nurture the hearts Allah has entrusted to us, may we also allow Him to nurture ours.

Somewhere along the way, many women begin to believe that motherhood has made them smaller.

That the dreams they once carried have been replaced by endless responsibilities.

That they've somehow lost themselves.

But what if we've been looking at motherhood through the wrong lens?

Islam never presents motherhood as a role that diminishes a woman.

It honours it.

Every act of patience.

Every unseen sacrifice.

Every moment of choosing mercy over frustration.

None of it is lost with Allah.

Perhaps motherhood isn't the interruption.

Perhaps it is one of the greatest journeys of tarbiyah Allah will ever take us through.

Not because it is easy.

But because it asks us to become more patient.

More sincere.

More reliant upon Him.

And with every step, it invites us to rise.

Not away from ourselves...

But towards the woman Allah created us to be.

If this made you think of another mother, share it with her. Perhaps it's exactly the reminder she needs today.

One of the things I wish someone had told me as a new mother was this:

You don't have to figure everything out alone.

There is a difference between learning through unnecessary struggle and learning through sincere guidance.

Both involve effort.

But one allows you to build upon the wisdom of those who came before you.

Looking back, I don't regret my journey. Allah wrote it exactly as it needed to be.

But if I can help another mother walk this path with a little more clarity, a little more peace, and a little more confidence in Allah...

Then perhaps my own struggles served a purpose.

We were never meant to journey through motherhood in isolation.

We rise by learning from one another and returning, together, to the guidance Allah has already given us.

What is one piece of advice from another mother that has stayed with you?

A little while ago, I was preparing for a mothers' coffee morning where I was speaking about navigating the chaos of motherhood.

Ironically, my own home felt more chaotic than ever.

Nothing was going to plan. I couldn't prepare the way I had hoped, and I found myself wondering, "How can I speak about this when I'm struggling with it myself?"

For a moment, I doubted whether I was even the right person to be standing up there.

Then something shifted.

I had planned to approach the talk completely differently. But that morning, the chaos I was living through became the very thing I needed to teach.

I realised the goal was never to not struggle. Allah tells us our children and our wealth are a test (Surah Al-Anfal, 8:28). Which means the struggle was never the problem I needed to solve. The response is.

Even Fatimah (RA), the beloved daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, struggled under the weight of her responsibilities and went to her father for help. He didn't remove her hardship. He gave her a dhikr, a tool to regulate herself through it.

That's what shifted my talk that day, and it's what I still have to remind myself of, over and over. The peace didn't come from things falling into place. It came from a shift from grasping for control into a settled state of submission.

This is what parenting from your highest self looks like, and it's one of the things we go deeper into inside my upcoming workshop, Introduction to Fitrah Motherhood. Comment WORKSHOP and I'll send you the details.

What's one thing that helps you find calm in the middle of the chaos? Share it below, I'd love to build a list of ideas from this community.

There is a difference between nurturing and controlling..
And perhaps this is one of the hardest lessons of motherhood. ✨

We care deeply. We dream for our children. We want what is best for them.

But sometimes, beneath that love, there can be a hidden pressure to shape them into what we imagine they should become.

The gardener reminds us of another way.

To nurture with intention.
To create an environment of love and guidance.
To make du'a and put in the effort.
And then to trust Allah with the growth.

Because the One who placed the seed knows exactly how it was created to bloom.

Every child carries a story written by Allah.
What part of this perspective stayed with you?

I'd love to hear your thoughts below. 🤍

One of the greatest lessons motherhood has given me is learning to release the weight of what was never mine to carry. ✨

For so long, I thought being a good mother meant holding everything together. Anticipating every need, preventing every difficulty, and somehow finding a way to control every outcome.

But motherhood has a way of reminding us that we were never created to carry what belongs to Allah.
Our role is to nurture with love. To show up with sincerity. To make the effort and place our trust in Him.
Because the outcome was never ours to hold.

There is a quiet peace that comes when we loosen our grip on what we cannot control and return to the One who has always been in control.

Perhaps this is one of the hidden gifts of motherhood, learning that surrender is not giving up.
It is trusting Allah with what we were never meant to carry. 🤍

Save this for the days when motherhood feels heavier than expected.
Share it with a mother who may need this reminder today.

We prepare for the baby long before they arrive.

We read the books. We choose names. We set up the nursery. We think about feeding, sleep, routines and all the practical things motherhood will ask of us.

But very few of us prepare for the quiet transformation taking place within.

Motherhood doesn't simply change your daily life. It changes the way you see yourself. It reveals parts of your heart you never knew needed healing. It stretches your patience, deepens your reliance upon Allah, and gently reminds you that some lessons can only be learnt by living them. ✨

Looking back, I wish someone had told me that becoming a mother wasn't only about learning how to raise a child.

It was also about allowing Allah to raise me.

I spent years trying to navigate motherhood on my own, believing I had to figure everything out from scratch. Now I see the beauty of learning from women who have walked this path before us, and of returning to the guidance Allah has already given us through the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Perhaps motherhood was never meant to make us feel like we have everything together.

Perhaps it was always meant to draw us closer to the One who does.
If this is where you find yourself in motherhood...

I'd love to continue this conversation with you.

I'm hosting a free live workshop, Introduction to Fitrah Motherhood, where we'll explore this journey through the lens of Islamic Psychology.

Comment "Workshop" and I'll send you the registration link. 🤍
