For two years we’ve watched as elected officials ignored the wishes of the American people. They tried to sell off public lands. They did backroom deals to slash National Monuments. They gave handouts to billionaires and corporations. They tried to hand over sacred waters to foreign mining companies. We at PACT Outdoors have had enough.

No More Sell-Offs. Full stop.⁠

Don’t think for a second that Sen. Mike Lee and others won’t hop on any opportunity to sell-off public lands to the highest bidder. Last summer, our community of bikepackers joined millions of everyday people from across the political spectrum to overwhelm Congressional switchboards and fire off countless emails to stop Sen. Lee’s public land fire sale. More than 80 percent of Americans don’t want public lands sold off. This should be a non-starter and yet it took a massive outpouring of everyday people to stop it. ⁠

We’re here to remind our elected officials that sell-offs won’t be tolerated. We remember who champions the land. Sign the petition. Become one in a million. We’ll deliver it to DC. ⁠

Mark Kenyon and Fitz Cahall may not appear to have much in common. Mark got his start in the outdoors at a family hunting cabin in the forest lands of Northern Michigan, and Fitz dirtbagged around the American West in the back of his Tacoma. Their passions in the outdoors might be different, but their resolve to protect Public Lands is just the same.

A hunter and a climber sit down around a campfire. It sounds like the setup of a joke. It’s not.

This summer, MeatEater and Duct Tape Then Beer, the two largest podcast networks in the hunting and fishing and outdoor rec worlds, sat down around a question – could we start to play offense for our public lands? “Could we recreate last summer’s moment to remind our elected officials who they are accountable to?” asked the climber @fitzcahall. Leave it the hunter to ramp things up. “How about one million signatures delivered to DC on National Public Lands Day?” said @markkenyonofficial.

We have three demands. No Sell-Offs. No Giveaways. No Backroom Deals.
We don’t always see eye to eye, but our two communities share a love for these places and desire to see them protected for future generations.

For nearly two years, we’ve watched as some elected officials have tried to sell-off public lands. Roll back protections across some of our most treasured landscapes. Hand foreign mining companies sweetheart deals. And when the American people stood up and said, “We don’t want this to happen,” they’ve ignored us and instead put backroom deals ahead of everyday people. We’ve had enough.

We have three demands. No more public lands sell-offs. No more giveaways. No more backroom deals. Our goal is simple. One million signatures we can take to Washington, D.C., and state capitals across the US.

The USDA announced plans to rescind the Roadless Rule, which protects 45 million acres of National Forest.

Since the fish, elk and next generation can’t comment, can you? 🐟 🦌

Take it from Tracy Stone-Manning, former Director of the Bureau of Land Management and now Exec Director at The Wilderness Society: Simply writing, “‘These places are important to me because’, and then fill in the blank. You can speak from the heart and tell your government why these places matter to you. It will have an impact.”

If you love public lands you should be pissed. You shouldn’t be surprised though.

On Monday President Trump along with Utah Sen Mike Lee announced that they would gut Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monuments by 3 million acres. Then they told a bunch of lies.

Here’s a fact:
More than 70 percent of Utahan’s want Bears Ears and Grand Staircase protected. Most of Utah is Republican and 65 percent of Republicans in the state want these places protected. So Mike Lee and Donald Trump are ignoring the will of the people?

Take a moment. Tag your Representatives and Senators in this post. Tell them you are pissed that their colleague Mike Lee and the president did this to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments.

Are you a mountain biker? There is one trail that you need to learn about: Orogenesis.

In late summer of 2025, @kurt.refsnider straddled the Canadian border in Washington, pointing his bike south towards the border of Mexico. He was about to bring concept to reality: the first rider to attempt the Orogenesis trail, a decades long pursuit to bring a mammoth single track through-ride across the entire pacific crest of the United States and Mexico. This is a story of how a trail is made.

Orogenesis Collective is raising $250K by the end of the year to care for the trail.
