Some really special stuff going on right now. 20 wahoo for our last trip. @tagosh79 and the boys flat out just don’t miss! This is one of those trips we will talk about for the rest of our lives. Trolling, bombs, yo-yo jigs, and bait all caught wahoo. Firsts for many but truly special to see this with in 150 miles from home. #pacificqueenkillers by @fivestarfishprocessing

We hope you enjoy the reel! Drop a like, leave a comment, and share it with your fellow fishing fanatics.

We sincerely appreciate your business and continued support throughout the years. We’re looking forward to seeing what other crazy El Niño catches come our way!

Congratulations to Five Star Fish Processing owner Markus Medak.
Markus and James Roe caught this record breaking fish of a lifetime on the @shearwaterfishingsd out of @pointlomasportfishing
The official weight was 446 dressed.
Years and years of hard work and dedication to the craft have lead up to this amazing catch.
Hats off to these two, great job fellas.

You guys asked, here it is. A short video showing how to remove the stones (otoliths) from the White Sea bass.
•
Otoliths are small, calcium-carbonate structures found in the inner ears of fish. They help fish with balance, orientation, and hearing. Because otoliths grow in layers throughout a fish’s life, scientists can use them to estimate age and study the fish’s growth and life history.
•
@stone.and.sea.co is a local company that makes jewelry from your Otoliths.

Now available at several locations, five star bait bombs.

Check the website for availability - link in bio -

Chum bait has been used for hundreds, and likely thousands, of years. Coastal fishing cultures around the world discovered that throwing crushed fish, shellfish, or animal remains into the water would attract more fish.

Some key milestones include:

* Ancient times: Indigenous peoples and early coastal civilizations in the Pacific, Mediterranean, and Arctic regions used fish scraps and blood to attract fish.
* 1800s: Commercial fishermen increasingly used chum to improve catches, especially for cod, tuna, and other valuable species.
* 1900s: Chumming became a standard practice in both commercial and recreational fishing, with frozen chum blocks and manufactured chum products becoming widely available.
* Today: Chum is used worldwide in commercial fisheries, sport fishing, and shark research, although its use is regulated or restricted in some areas to protect wildlife and reduce environmental impacts.

In short, chumming is an ancient fishing technique that predates modern commercial fishing by centuries, if not millennia.
