A look back at probably our best Trash Tuesday find yet! 30 seconds makes it look easy, but it took a lot of work, and many electrolysis baths to restore the cauldron to its former black shiny glory.
•
My best guess is that it’s a “wash kettle” made sometime between 1900 and 1920, but its exact year and foundry may always be a mystery. Revisit the whole cauldron adventure in the highlights. 🔎

And our family is complete. Rosalind was born early on Monday, 6lb 9oz. I’m doing great. Shes doing great—already packing back on the ounces fast. We’re all loving and adjusting to this sweet new baby.

(Pronounced “roz-uh-lind.” She’s named after the protagonist of As You Like It, a role I *almost* played in high school, but our single outdoor performance got rained out, lol. ⛈️ The name lodged itself in my heart nonetheless, and here we are.) by @fixthefaucette

Eye of newt but make it cute!

5 whole years(!) of posing my babies in the Trash Forest cauldron. And these are, without a doubt, the most ridiculous hats to date. I put them on the kids, stepped back, and my first thought was, “I hope they forgive me one day.”

Friends! Popping back in to say Hi!

I know I’ve been quiet on here. All I can say is working from home with 2 under 5 is not for the faint of heart. Most days I just collapse into bed, lucky if I get the dishwasher loaded, before I’m up early to do it all over again. (Not to mention, it’s hard to enforce screen limits with Luis if he sees me on my phone all day, too.) So more and more, I find myself not opening IG at all. And that’s been good for me. For the family. But I do look forward to having hobbies again. (Parents, we do get to have hobbies again, right?)

Our big news is that we’re having another BABY. She is due mid December. We are thrilled. We are terrified. (Parents of 3, please leave your best tips in the comments.)

Just a few weeks left really, and it’s been a perfectly uneventful pregnancy. Except for when I got a bad case of poison ivy in the first trimester. 🌱 (Yes, THAT case of poison ivy.) I was 4 weeks pregnant during that nightmare, if you can believe it, and the urgent care doctor didn’t feel comfortable giving me steroids. 🙃

But overall, this Advanced Maternal Age mama (I’m 38) is doing great. Baby girl is healthy. Andrew and I are ready to soak in all the “last firsts” with our final baby. Well, we’re not really ready. But we know now that “ready” isn’t a real thing.

We got the sweetest family candids taken by @threeregionnc. Yay for a chill photographer who let us all do our thing, baby scowls, strawberry stains, honking geese and all. 🍓🪿

The first professional photos we’ve had taken since our wedding, 12 years ago, if you can believe it. 😧 I’ll need to make it a more regular thing. Especially because my babies refuse to stop growing up. 😭 by @fixthefaucette

Pure regret.

My only explanation for how I could do this to myself at age 37 is that in all my years in Trash Forest, I’ve never gotten a poison ivy rash. It wasn’t on my radar. 🤷‍♀️

I can laugh about it now (a little) because it’s finally on the mend. I went to urgent care. Got all the meds. The lotions. The wraps. It’s been an awful week. by @fixthefaucette

You may have heard of the McMartin and Martensville cases, but I’ll bet you’ve never heard of Little Rascals. Safe to say, the 1980s was not a good time to run a daycare in America.

Amid a nationwide moral panic, parents were primed to believe the unbelievable. Enter “therapists” to fuel the hysteria by coercing testimonies from 4-year-olds.

There’s so much more I couldn’t cover. Jury shenanigans. Prosecutorial and judicial misconduct. The video store owner left to rot in jail without even a trial date for 3.5 YEARS. Detectives destroying their notes. Boxes of evidence withheld from the defense. The plea deals offered and soundly rejected by the Edenton 7 who refused to admit to something they didn’t do.
