There is nothing quite like October in New Mexico. 🎈✨🎃

Dawn wanderings through the Rio Grande Valley, where the morning chill gives way to the exhilarating spectacle of mass ascension and the sky becomes a living canvas of color.

The rhythmic roar of propane burners, breakfast burritos warming our hands, piping hot coffee, and the collective oohs and aahs of thousands gazing skyward. Then, that magical moment when the first golden rays crest the Sandia Mountains, illuminating a kaleidoscope of balloons drifting across the high desert sky.

It's a symphony of wonder, nostalgia, and pure New Mexico magic.

And perhaps the sweetest treasure of all? Unexpectedly crossing paths with some of our favorite people, reunited after a year of inspiring travels, wandering roads, and stories gathered along the way. Those serendipitous encounters that remind us how beautifully our lives intertwine, no matter how far we roam.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is so much more than a spectacle! It's a celebration of place, community, and the extraordinary beauty of gathering beneath the same boundless sky.

A thousand colors, a million memories, and another reminder of why we call this remarkable place the Land of Enchantment. 🌄🎈

Nine years ago we started over together ❤️
how time does not simply pass,
it gathers.

Layer upon layer,
sediment and stone,
rain and wind,
the imprint of what has lived here before,
each season settling gently into the next
until a landscape becomes
a story you can touch.

This is how I think of us.

Of our early beginnings,
when so much was still unwritten,
two lives finding their way toward one another,
not yet knowing all the roads
we would wander,
the places we would discover,
the things we would build with our own hands,
or how deeply our roots would someday
find their way into this earth.

And now, this life.

Our home.
Our sanctuary.
This little world we have quenched and shaped
from love, imagination,
work, adventure,
and the thousands of ordinary moments
that somehow became everything.

Like the mesas surrounding us,
our story carries its history in layers,
some vivid with color,
some weathered,
some soft,
some forged under pressure
but every one necessary
to the landscape we stand within today.

I am grateful for the beginning.
I am grateful for every layer since. But perhaps most of all, I am grateful for the everyday life we have made here in Taos...
for this sanctuary, for Aspen beside us, for Willow forever within us, for the people we love, for the roads still waiting, and for you.
May we keep wandering. May we keep creating. May we keep returning home to one another.
And may the years continue to gather beneath our feet, layer upon beautiful layer, until the story of us is its own wild and weathered landscape.

Some drives are about acending into your memory. Last time we wandered to Goose Lake you were swimming in the lake and begging for bites of ham 🐾 🐾 lunch didn't taste as good in your absence.

No matter how long ago, you're always part of our adventures, remembering the thousands of miles together on back roads.

Aspen looking around the tree to wait for the splash of her sister so she can follow your lead. Without you, no one to chase off the squirrels.

Willow, you're in the trees, the clouds, the wild and mostly traveling around with us in our hearts and souls.

While our 4th plans got uprooted with wildfires we are grateful that close to home we have the perfect Americana roots that invite a world away from our home.
