So, Surreal Salon... 🫨😳🤯I don't even have the proper words to describe being in the space, let alone being selected among the group of artists. The Imposter Syndrome™️ was real, but I am exceptionally humbled to have "The Awakening" alongside some truly amazing works. I plan on making a separate post just to show off some of the other pieces, because there is no way to fit everything into one post (fun fact--@brawn_mcman is standing beside the winning piece in the eighth photo, and the winner is in the 11th pic!).After participating, I realized my new goal as an artist is to hope I can eventually make it back, and also believe in my craft enough as an artist to 100% feel like I belong in the space alongside all these other amazing creatives. I just want to say, "Thank you so much!!" to @brgallery for having me, and to @epricco for even considering my piece (and for being cool when I awkwardly walked around waiting for the right time to come up and shake your hand 😂🫠).A special shout-out to @artjunky219--the skirt and shoes you made came in clutch for the event! 💖 by @fkafrazierart

Soooo, back this past winter, I put out a call to my friends--make a small donation, I'll draw you a "Thank You!" drawing--your choice of subject, or just let me go ham and see what happens! I also ended up taking up specialty commissions for people who asked. I was unemployed, overwhelmed from schoolwork, and just wanted to make ends meet with bills. Christmas gifts for others weren't even on my radar. This call ended up being the coolest (and, truthfully, kind of anxiety-inducing!) Christmas gift I could have received. To say I was overwhelmed with the amount of people who helped out is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Now that we're past the rough winter months and the Spring semester, I have been slowly chucking away at those "Thank You" drawings and commissions (and these aren't even all of them 😮‍💨💖). Gonna start inking, coloring, and painting them soon! Since I started grad school, I've come to accept that it will be very rare that a prototype will go to plan. There's a few fixes I need to make, but this one ended up being pretty fricken close to how I envisioned it. Just have to finish the dialogue cube, now. "Identity Crisis."
