I would like to extend warmest birthday wishes to Jimi Hazel mother, Shirley “Mama” Richardson, a shining embodiment of love and compassion. Although not related by blood, she has a boundless capacity to love us all with the same unwavering devotion as if we were her own children, a true testament to her extraordinary heart, an Aries through and through. I am deeply grateful for the profound impact she has had on my life, and I have always affectionately referred to her as mom, just as I have always called Jimi Hazel father, Dennis “Pops”. Good morning Facebook friends and family! I deeply apologize for the misleading of posting the actual date of yesterday which was January 27th her heavenly birthday. My mother passed away In July 1995 and If she were alive, Addie Mae Lucas Goodwine would have been 96 years of age.

Took me a minute to grasp this news today. I had in the cue to watch again “Sly Lives-aka The Burden of Black Genius” just last night. Damn. Today I’m posting this message with a heavy heart sending my deepest condolences to my best friend and partner in crime, Jimi Hazel on the passing of his father the late Mr Dennis Richardson. To know “Pops” as I lovingly called him and he’d humorously replied “Hey Motherf#%*er!!” with a deep hardy laugh flashing his pearly white cheshire grin, will always stay in my heart. The man was simply as real as real can get in all of a solid five-foot frame. A rock of a true black man that was ready to defend you or just ready to knock a fool on his butt if you crossed him the wrong way. Dennis lived hard and played even harder; “ huh? “Harder Than You” I’d say. I will be forever grateful knowing the most loving, happy, laughing couple from Michell Projects, Dennis and Shirley Richardson. Sleep In Peace Dennis. by @fkrs2016
