For some reason, generally right wing misogynists, and manosphere idiots particularly have been going on and on and on about the Lyndsay Clancy case and using it as a bad faith excuse to eliminate the 19th amendment. Which is faulty even by their own logic as they’re not clamoring to repeal the 21st amendment over drunk drivers involved in vehicular homicides, or of course the second as we’ve normalized mass shootings.

As someone who has investigated cases of post partum depression and psychosis in my role as a CPS worker, it’s a very complex diagnosis that’s incredibly easy to misdiagnose or have complications involved with women who have bipolar disorder, anxiety, substance misuse, and a whole host of other factors like isolation and domestic abuse.

Though that doesn’t seem to be what the disciples of Andrew Tate and Matt Walsh care about as this is just a means to try and strip rights from women and stigmatize mental health issues like post partum as trivial and that it’s all made up. It’s real, we’ve had cases of women openly stating they felt urges to harm themselves and their children, it doesn’t mean they hate their children, it’s a stressful physical and hormonal shift where a person’s entire mental wiring gets hijacked and re-wired and it exacerbates any prior trauma and psychological issues. Even when families do everything the right way, it can still lead to tragedy.

The other appalling blind spot with this is that family mass murders, murder/suicides are perpetrated over 90% of the time by males, typically with a long history of violence and abuse who regularly refuse treatment. No one is saying we should use that as an excuse to bar men from voting.
