26 July 2026 marked twenty years since my mum passed away - over half my lifetime ago…it’s crazy how ‘normal’ life now feels without her but I also still miss her presence frequently? Grief’s a bitch, guys…

I think the most important lessons I learned from her death are to show your loved ones appreciation while they are here (duh, but I see too many people take their parents for granted), try and tackle the painful feelings of grief as head on as possible - sometimes you need to bury things to keep going but make space for confronting difficult emotions when you can - and that friends are as important a community as family…I love my friends so much, and I’m so grateful so many have been there when times have been hard 🫶🏻

(I wonder what my mum would have thought of Charli xcx and the song soundtracking this post, one of the most devastating things about her passing is that we can’t talk about music any more…personally, I think she would have disliked Charli and her attitude at first, but then warmed to her by the time the Charli album came out in 2019) by @flame_me_up

$Turin is the most underrated Italian city I’ve visited so far - not only is it beautiful, but did you know the following things originated in the city/its surrounding regions: Lavazza coffee, Martini (and modern versions of vermouth), panna cotta, Fiat, gnocchi, gianduja and Nutella?! I didn’t!! Still sad to have only been able to visit a tiny fraction of the city’s interesting museums and not been able to eat & drink more Piedmontese things… by @flame_me_up$
