Something like our 8th turbo in just 5years with #BlackBullSRT4 and yet none of them were bad or blown. We just began to appreciate R&D a lot since it's not a race car but a street car that we also drag race.

Today's EMAP aka Drive Pressure aka Back Pressure data on the street is showing a massive improvement over the turbo we just trapped 143mph last weekend with!

The 4-day Drag Elite Europe event was a blast.

We didn't arrive for Thursday's test and tune but on Friday we did our 3 of 3 qualifying passes as scheduled. Our previous post went into more detail.

Skip to Sunday. We had qualified #8 in the TOP 8 of the Sport Compact FWD pro class. We were now up against Europe's quickest FWD car... Dawid Lamik's 7-second Opel Corsa...

But our own mistake cost us the race. We did not courtesy stage and got an automatic red (computer generated) as per the rules.

However, we are ecstatic to have backed up the 142mph passes with another 1 in test and tune between eliminations. And finally a 143pass in the t&t after the finals! #BlackBullSRT4 is making an estimated 630whp (715 crank) on a head that has not seen a gram of port work. Our goal is to keep pushing and see how far we can go with that. Likewise to be competitive in the 10.50 index in 2027.

Lastly, a bit surprised that the ACT single held up moreso because it's the weaker heavy duty not the extreme pressure plate that's in there. We just may stick with it and have an extreme plate as a back up and see how far we can go with each.

Street driven and yet wide open throttle shifting at 7,000 RPM 9 passes in a row including 2x mid-10s with no failures is not a surprise. #SRT4s are fascinating machines :)

6th of 6 qualifiers are now over.
13.5, 11.04, 11.04, 10.71, 10.68, 10.67 in that order.

We made the top 8 and move on to the finals tomorrow.

First time in the 140s for mph on a stock-port head. Replica g30-770 turbo since our genuine g35-990 gen II didn't arrive in time. Meanwhile our tubular manifold won't stop showing off...!

Full weight minus pass seat, back seat, spare tire/tools, catback exhaust, and wing.

The alternator heat shield will not need to be removed and isn't recommended to remove anyway. The shifter cable bracket does not need to be modified. The firewall does not need to be dented outwards. The wiper cowl does not need to be dented upwards. But the oil "cooler" plumbing does need to be removed since unlike a log which is slim and sits high up a tubular fills up the space on the back of the block.

We went 10's again after 13yrs!

In #RedBullSRT4 we went 10.92 at 130mph in October 2013 at Englishtown Raceway Park.

This past weekend in #BlackBullSRT4 we went 10.86 at 134mph at an airport drag racing event.

We are ecstatic since as much as we worked for the first 10-second pass in our 2003 daily we did also this time for our new 2005 daily. The first time on a quality prepped track and this time on a pop-up 'track" where the day before and day after the event airplanes take off and land. Some glue has been sprayed down and tons of rubber put down from cars but far from being what an official strip is like in terms of maintenance/scraping/etc. The 60-foots agree. Back then it took a 1.70 and less hp/trq to get the 10. This time with a 1.90 it needed more hp/trq to get it. Of course, our tuning and boost control strategy has become better over time and that helped a lot.

Some differences for those who like data/stats:

-5862 PTE back then 5455 Garrett now

-c16 race fuel back then e90 now

-ported head back then stock-port now

-no a/c back then and with a/c now

-cool October air vs DA 1974ft this time

The first burnout and run attached are of an 11.2x pass from Saturday's qualifying where we hit PCM boost cut protection in 4th. That was the 2nd of 2 passes in qualifying that day.

On Sunday we managed 3x 11.0x's and qualified #5 in 10.50 index. We won first round and lost the second as the clutch slip became extreme in 3rd and 4th. Ended up with "4th place" in an 8-car field.

The second burnout and run attached are of our 10.86 pass where we did lift on the 2-3 due to problem with the cables that keep us from nailing it WOT every time. Car is capable of a 10.7x when that shift is done Wide-open-throttle! The CM street twin had just begun to slip slightly in 4th on this pass! And with only about 570/570 to the wheels we'll like revert back to our preferred #SPECclutch after this.

Finally, BACKPRESSURE data. Up to 2.1:1 ratio at 35psi boost. Small turbo and 0.61a/r are working hard so we will contemplate changes. Very pleased with our VBAND tubular manifold getting a 54mm turbo to the mid-130's!

No more kinked coupler going into the hot side of the intercooler. The aftermarket has the right idea copying the oval pipe (like stock), but rarely the right fitment. Even worse the oval isn't bowed on top and bottom (like stock) for proper sealing when the clamp is on.

With a 2.5" pipe welded on both problems are now fixed. No modification of the lower radiator support needed!

We got good data from it today; boost spike/hold, backpressure, threshold, and IAT stability. It's a little 54mm but it is strong!

For having only a 3" inlet this thing whistles so loud it gets annoying on a long drive.

As of now we will continue to run this G30-725 even into July's 1/4 mile event.

Our PB 1/8th mile with #BlackBullSRT4 is 7.33

This guy over here is doing it while only being on a wastegate pressure of 14psi!

With consistent 7.30-7.34's @_dallasjames_ got 3rd place at the H-Town vs The World 1/8mile event in Texas this weekend.

At the same time congratulations to SRT-4 owner @addiesrt for landing 1st place in the same 7.30 aka 11.50 index!
