🌿 #MakeADifferenceMonday: Nature should be for everyone.

For some of our guests, that means experiencing the wonder of a butterfly up close or discovering the textures of tropical plants.

Through our Community Access Days program, Flamingo Gardens partners with local nonprofits to provide free visits for people who might otherwise face barriers to experiencing the Gardens.

The program has welcomed groups serving people with disabilities, autism, visual impairments, and terminal illness, as well as at-risk teens and families with limited financial resources.

From exploring our botanical gardens to meeting rescued wildlife, these visits help make meaningful connections with nature accessible to more people in our community. 💚

We welcome up to 12 nonprofit organizations each year, with applications reviewed year-round. Interested organizations are encouraged to apply at least 60 days before their preferred visit date.

If you are a nonprofit interested in our program for your group, please call 954-473-2955, extension 114, or email community@flamingogardens.org!

🦩 #ThrowbackThursday: Take a trip back to Flamingo Gardens in 1997.

Nearly 30 years ago, visitors could take a narrated tram tour through the citrus groves, stop by the Fresh Fruit Patio, and even arrange for gift fruit shipping! 🍊

While our narrated tram tours are still a favorite today, this vintage brochure offers a glimpse into a different era of Flamingo Gardens, when our citrus-growing history was a big part of the visitor experience.

Bentley's got a tasty challenge on his paws this #WildlifeWednesday! 🐻

Our animal care team gave Bentley a piece of bamboo filled with treats, and he's making sure he gets every last bit. In the wild, black bears forage for insects like ants and termites, using their tongues to reach food hidden in logs and other tight spaces.

Enrichment like this encourages Bentley to use his natural foraging skills while giving him a tasty challenge! by @flamingogardens
