WELL HELLO DAHLINGS. You never can tell which posts are gonna pop off, but my last reel hit a nerve, hun, so THANK YOU to everyone who loves my song S.P.R.K.L. so much and shared it all over! ✨

Since we have a few thousand new Flamethrowers in our midst, I thought I’d do a quick introduction! I’m Flamy Grant, the shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen. I’m a little bit Dolly, a lot Wynona, an homage to my shero Amy Grant, and, according to so many of you in the comments… a smattering of Garth Brooks too?!? I’ll take it. 🤠

I’ve been a songwriter since I wrote my first church hymn at the age of 9 and I’ve been doing it in drag for the last 5 years. I’m based in western North Carolina — known as To Ki Ya Sdi to her native Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians — but I tour all over the U.S. (and sometimes other countries too). 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦🇳🇱🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I love good food, great views, big hair, and a stamped mug. I’m nonbinary (she/they), queer as hell, and everything I do is to give queer youth the hope, visibility, and inspiration that was withheld from me in my Bible Belt upbringing. (But make no mistake: straight people love me too, and you’re very welcome here!) I do not abide hatred, I love my block button, and occasionally I take the time to mop up the trolls at their own game. 🧌

I’m partner to Chris, paw-rent to Merlin, and one of my bucket list goals is to visit every national park. 🏔️

Most of all I am so lucky to get to spread joy, empowerment, resilience, and S.P.R.K.L. all over this beautiful planet we call home. Welcome to the Flamethrowers—I’m ECSTATIC you’re here. ❤️‍🔥

I tried to pull off a secret song drop for our 7th wedding anniversary and somehow managed to spoil the surprise. (Hot tip: don’t play your Marco Polo messages from friends who are in on the surprise when your husband is sitting in the car right next to you.)

But here it is: a little song about having an anchor, a tether, a foundation… pick your metaphor.

Life on the road is many things. It’s a lifelong dream come true. It’s also hard as hell. When @beerdedlady and I made our vows on October 13, 2019, none of this was on the horizon. None of it was in the plan.

In all of the massive life upheaval, Christopher has been not only the safe haven I get to come home to, but also the biggest champion of these dreams I’m chasing. He lets me galavant all over the country and he’s there when each journey ends and I wheel a van load of wigs and guitars back into our home. And now that we’ve been in our first little condo for almost a year, I have a deeper appreciation for what it means to have someone literally make a home for me. Someone who holds it down, has my back, and makes coming home the best part of any tour.

I wrote this song sitting in London’s Queen Square Garden about six weeks ago, grateful to be in a point in my career where I can travel across an entire ocean to sing my songs, but also… a little homesick. Those dreams that come true — they definitely come with a cost. I’m so grateful the person who picked me all those years ago is still here, still ready to welcome me home no matter how many times I take to the road.
