Hi! I’m Marie, the artist behind Flash Box, a playful portrait booth or "photomaton" (in Francais) where I illustrate people live in just 3 to 5 minutes.

I’m a self-taught illustrator with a passion for drawing people. This summer, I’m bringing that passion around the country: starting with festivals and soon weddings, parties etc.

Guests pose in front of the booth, insert a golden token… and I draw them on the spot!

I use premium paper, fine watercolours, Posca pens, and fineliners to deliver a bold, funky, and joy-filled portrait that’s uniquely you.

So strike a pose.. and watch out! I sketch fast and bold! ⚡🎨

📩 DM to book Flash Box or collab with me!

I’m delighted to be part of this amazing project: Clifden Studios. ✨

An exciting moment for Clifden and for the community! @clarehendersontheartist Visual Coordinator of Clifden Arts Festival and a dear friend, has been leading this wonderful venture, with the support of @just_a_collective_6 of which I am a co-founder.

In just a few days, we’ll have a space to create, work, meet and connect. We’re also developing a community space within the studios that will be open to everyone: a place to share skills, teach, learn, collaborate.

This is only the beginning, and we are excited about what this space can become and what it can bring to Clifden and the wider community.

It feels like a dream come true!

Here’s to new ideas, new connections and a new creative space for Clifden ;)

Hi everyone 🍂

Summer is officially over, and I’m wishing you all a very happy Autumn Equinox!

I have to be really honest… it’s not always easy to keep Flash Box going. There are definitely times when I feel a little bored with it and wonder how I can bring some new energy into what I do.

That’s why I’d love to hear from you!

Is there anything else you’d like to see me doing with Flash Box?
Would you like to see me experimenting with different media, colours, styles… or something completely different?

Need to find the fire again! 🔥

Not long ago, I was hired for a party to do some more traditional live drawing. It was actually quite challenging because people weren’t looking at a screen like they normally do with Flash Box, and I wasn’t hiding behind it either! But it was lovely, and it reminded me how exciting it can be to try something different.

I’m also always happy to collaborate with other artists on potential events, so if you have an idea or would like to work together, ring my bell!

Here’s to new ideas and new collaborations 🍁✨

Beautiful day yesterday at @interfaceinagh for Family Day! Filled with music and a variety of different workshops.

There’s also a gorgeous exhibition on at the moment as part of the @clifdenartsfest so definitely worth a visit!

It was extra special getting to spend the day with my sister while she’s visiting - and she took all the photos too! 📸❤️ by @flashboxart

Soundtracked by pure laughter yesterday in Limerick! Niamh and Shane had the best crowd, and the reactions at Flash Box were so good I could practically turn the giggles into a beat. Congrats to the happy couple! 🎶😂

Just sharing a few pictures from @feile_vegan in County Carlow, Ireland’s biggest vegan festival, which I had the honour of attending with Flash Box. 🌱✨

Beautiful land and place, filled with positive energy, art and happy faces 💚

Thank you to the @feile_vegan team for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful event. A pleasure to be there and share the experience.

P.S. The tour had to be shorter than planned, as my van had a little problem that unfortunately couldn’t be fixed on time - even after three attempts before the trip. So I decided to take it as a sign that maybe I wasn’t meant to be on the road for longer this time… and came back to Galway.

Thank you the talented @fionacushley for the last pic!

Much love,
Marie by @flashboxart
