Second single: IF NOT FOR YOU (feat. Brad Mehldau)

“If Not For You” tells a story of complete and unwavering dedication to one’s God; a devotion that continues even beyond the point of abandonment and betrayal. The flip side of fanaticism.

It is an unbelievable privilege to feature one of my all-time musical heroes, @bradmehldauofficial , on this track. I grew up listening to Brad’s albums, and his music still reminds me of home. He brings a beautifully personal touch to the song.

“If Not For You” will be released January 9

Benieuwd?! Lees hier meer:

For this edition of Pocket Concerts, we were honored to welcome Flatland Prayer to the studio.

Led by bassist and composer River Adomeit, with Antonio Moreno Glazkov on trumpet and Līva Dumpe on vocals, the Amsterdam-based trio blends American folk, jazz improvisation and spoken word into a cinematic form of storytelling. Their music moves between intimacy, satire and emotional rawness, unfolding more like a narrative than a traditional set.

With their latest album FANATIC (2026), they continue to explore themes of identity and modern myth, bringing a distinctive and thought-provoking voice to the scene.

With Flatland Prayer, River Adomeit created a trio that moves freely between jazz, American folk and singer-songwriter traditions. On their album FANATIC, songs range from intimate storytelling to sharp reflections on American politics — all shaped through the distinctive voices of Līva Dumpe and Antonio Moreno Glazkov.

In our latest interview, River shares how the trio works, what inspires his songwriting, and how the music took shape.

[ENG] He left the United States four years ago and settled in Amsterdam, the city where he formed a trio with Latvian singer Līva Dumpe and Spanish trumpeter Antonio Moreno, a group they named Flatland Prayer.

A conversation with River Adomeit on the occasion of the release of “FANATIC”, the trio’s debut album. In it, this young bassist writes from Europe a musical letter to his homeland—one filled with nostalgia but also with critical irony.

We talk about what he loves (and doesn’t) about the U.S., about what led him to complete his jazz training in Europe, about the political situation in his country, and about the Trump administration’s obsession with transgender people like him, among other topics.
