Chadwick Boseman/Black Panther
A very special piece I made with an eye on and in partnership with @atlanticcomiccon . Planning something very special for that event this August. I hope you’ll be there.
This is 8.75” by 12” graphite and acrylic on toned paper. Thank you for following along. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Illustration referenced @goldenbarbie

Tutorial. An actual tutorial will be dropping this week on my 💸treon. I'll be going over my workflow, brushes, layer management, and thought process of how I construct an enhanced study or illustration. I'm super excited to offer this up. I expect it'll be done by Friday and it's taking a little extra time because sometimes I don't know how to stop talking! I hope y'all find some good nuggets and a lot of insight.

Watch that space on Friday. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Gonna do it this year. First time October art challenge since 2023. The plan is to mix and mold the various themes and prompts into the main prompt. I’m hoping for some good stuff. You’ll need to pray for me. Hard. See you tomorrow…. And every day for…. 31 days. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Monday night study time is back…. For at least one week. Nice night for a walk, huh? Laundry day. Nothing clean? Two excrutiating hours. I mean, trust the process turned into fk the process at one point. But it ended up okay. I definitely need to get back to these. I got really rusty. Small prints available at my next show. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

First time Ranma. Maybe second time? Richmond Anime Fest is coming up next month and I wanted some classic flavor. I’m leaning more into timeless Anime for subject matter I think. So much of the things I see that are popular these days seem so transient. Anyway Girl and Boy type Ranmas are here to help. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Sunday inkings. Conquest. I should draw this guy more actually. GREAT villain. Halftones from @visualtimmy . Let me just say… Those halftones are the shit. THE. SHIT. They actually lay perfectly over each other so they dont get messy at all. I’m always astounded at what creatives are able to do to get around Procreates limitations. Shout out to them. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Frieren and Fern in a field after the 1875 Woman with a Parasol – Madame Monet and Her Son by Claude Monet. This is my first time doing a piece inspired by a masterwork. I went to a Monet exhibit a few months back and this piece had always resonated with me. In thinking about doing a Frieren piece one day last week, this inspiration hit me like a thunderclap. I wanted to take my time. I feel really good about how it came out. I definitely learned a lot about light from doing this. It actually.y structurally was simpler than many of my other pieces. There is so much strength in that simplicity. Maybe I’ll do more of these.

One thing I was struggling with was value here. Monet was able to achieve value variance much more successfully. I was really struggling with trying to get some value variation while still dealing with local value and sunlight that kept trying to pull me lighter in that upper third sector of the painting. In looking at it now, maybe I could have had more gradation in the sky and pushed that down a little. Maybe I’ll edit a SMIDGE…. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Your Agonizer Please…
Okay, this is T’Pol. 🤣 This is 5. One more. Oh you think I miscounted? I didn’t. I have another on my PTreeAhn, and the last one will go on there as well exclusively. Liking this theme. Liking this workflow. Honestly, the workflow refinement has been the most valuable part of this exercise artistically. I kind of hit on something here that works for me. Shout out to all of you that supported me here and elsewhere! More to come! taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Ad Aspera Per Aspera.
Not Mariner BTW. This Star Trek Pin up series has been SO much fun. I mean a LOT. Expect maybe one or two more Trek themed ones and then I have ideas for Battlestar, Expanse, and yep, Star Wars. Clean versions and more WIP for paid subbers over there.
Enterprise or Defiant though? taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Peace Through Subterfuge may be a thing. Star Trek Pin up part 2. Romulans have been underutilized IMO. Could always use more. Working on the Starfleet one now. Likely a full print series that will be available at cons and on INPRNT. I’m thinking I may have a take on some other Sci-Fi franchises. What other ones would you like to see? taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Conceptually this has been on my mind for a while. Originally wanted to use the D7 but the Bird of Prey ended up working better. Maybe a Romulan version next???? Oh yeah. I think so. Premium stickers and prints??? Oh yeah. I think so. taken in Richmond, Virginia by @flatliner74

Recent commission. Zuko alone. I rewatched the episode to make sure I felt the resonance of the story and the place that Zuko was in. The client was pleased! I learned a lot as well. I approached the rendering slightly differently and that made me a little nervous but it came out great! Commissions are open so hit me up!
