SECOND EMOTIONAL POST OF THE DAY. SORRY GUYS 🫶🏼

At the beginning of this month, I applied for a position at my all-time favourite coffee bar. Two weeks ago, I had the privilege of doing a test shift there, and honestly, it was a little dream come true.

Bouche has been such a huge inspiration throughout my entire coffee journey. It’s one of those places I’ve looked up to for a long time, and with everything I’ve been thinking about doing next in my life, I really wanted to see what it’s like behind the bar. To be there, to experience it for myself, to get a little glimpse of what happens on the other side of the counter and, honestly, to see if this is really something I could see myself doing one day.

Sadly, the feedback came in today, and they decided to go with someone else.

I’m not going to lie, it hurt. A lot. I really wanted this job. Working at Bouche was genuinely a dream of mine, so I’m definitely a little heartbroken. But I completely respect their decision, and I’m not the kind of person who’s going to hold any bad feelings towards them because of it. Bouche is still my favourite coffee bar, and I’ll definitely continue to be there, drinking flat whites and supporting them like I always have ❤️

My mom always tells me that when you don’t get something you really wanted, you just have to trust that life has a way of taking you where you’re supposed to go. And maybe that’s what I need to take from this. Sometimes you can really want something, give it your best shot, and it still doesn’t work out. That doesn’t make the dream any less meaningful.

Thank you, @bouche.coffee , for the opportunity. You’ve been a huge inspiration to me throughout this journey, and I’m sure you’ll continue to be.

There’s something I’ve been keeping from you for almost four weeks now, and I honestly haven’t known how to share it. I didn’t want to make it bigger than it was or add fuel to something I was already trying to leave behind. But I’ve always been pretty open with you guys, so keeping this part to myself has felt strange. And honestly, it’s been eating at me for days, so I feel like I just need to get it off my chest.

Today, my little girl turns one. And over the past few days I’ve been thinking a lot about what becoming a dad has done to me as a person. It has changed my priorities, the way I look at life, and especially the kind of person I want to be.

A few weeks ago, someone high up in my company publicly made fun of me, what I do and some of the personal things I share here. I was sitting at the office when it happened, and in that moment, my daughter’s face came to mind. I thought about what I would tell her if someone ever treated her that way. Stand up for yourself. Know your worth. Don’t accept it just because someone has more power than you. And I realised I had to do the same.

So I stood up for myself, and it ultimately gave me the clarity to leave. I never expected to make this decision now, but I’m so happy I did.

I couldn’t have done any of this without Iris. She has been my biggest support through all of it, and I’m incredibly lucky to be doing this life and raising our daughter with her.

I’ve been carrying this for almost a month, and today feels like the right moment to finally let it go. I don’t have everything figured out, but I know what makes me happy, I know what interests me and I know the direction I want to go.
