Hi friends ! I have a show for you. Come down to collapse next Saturday August 29th. Theme of the night is sunflowers 🌻. This is a continuation of my series music with friends :). I want to be very clear that this is as always an improv night but my twist is making it a little danceable so of course I had to pull out my buddy Buscrates !! A little bit of playing on music, building beats from scratch, and just twisting around having fun ! 10pm !! Steven Haines will be on viz doing some sunflower themed moving image. 🎥 If I feel up to it I will make some snackies like usual,,, we will see.

Flea Market Films and The Orgone Archive present…

On the Outs: The Ridiculous and the Sublime

To whelm or underwhelm? That is the projection! Join the custodians of Flea Market Films (that's me!) and The Orgone Archive (Greg Pierce) for a deftly culled program of cinematic leftovers writ large. Three films. Three sleepers. Three flowers of the flock. The America that was great in 1954 delivered to us a peek-a-boo inventory film by an unknown enthusiast that Orgone will give its “It lives again!” moment in this continually overwhelming year. The logogrammatic sounds of @marzsipan will pinguefy the toothsome photomontage. Next up: the deepest of dives into the Flea Market Films collection for a film that asks, "What is a miracle? Why are you one?"

The evening ends on a grand visual grace note teetering on the verge of landing as a hard “Amen!” cadence. Two reels of unprofitable trim bin tidbits compiled by our aforementioned somnambulistic archivists will be projected side by side. Ecstatic boredom is the name. Total resurrection is the game. And, as our final sound librarian, @s.c._boyle has the ineffable task of adding nothing to nothing to produce something truly undertaining! All in under 90 minutes.

Doors at 7:30, show at 8pm ~ July 17, 2026 ~ Glitterbox ~ Homestead, Penna.

That feeling when you find your holy grail film, for which you've been searching for nearly a decade! 😵

That's right: tonight we have finally located the camera original (and only known complete copy) of Natalka Voslakov's Super 8 feature film "Teen-Age Love, or is there life after teenage romance and/or death in Pittsburgh?"

After years of striking out with every lead, I really thought this thing ended up in a landfill.

Moving this right to the top of the digitization and restoration queue so we can bring Teen-Age Love to you in 2027!

Huge thanks to Natalka's family for helping on this quest.

(Also, this was in The Box containing a number of other important Natalka originals, so there is much much more to come!) A square photo of a film canister with a handwritten label reading, "Natalka Voslakov, Teenage Love, or is there life after teenage romance and/or death in Pittsburgh? At events in the last month or so: I received not one but TWO spontaneous sketches from attendees! 😭

First one mysteriously left on my projection rig by @joyisrevolution, and the second one from Rob Stammitti An ink on white paper line drawing of a robed figure standing in front of a clock. Stylized text around the left-hand side reads "Flea Market". To the right of the figure is a tall structure with letters spelling our "FILMS", and with a film reel protruding from the top. by @fleamarketfilms

What is PFMI, you ask? That would be an initialism of Pittsburgh Filmmakers Incorporated, the one-time legal name of the equipment share, school, and exhibitor that drove so much creativity beginning in the 1970s. Two significant PFMI group shows from the 70s and 80s inspired our shindig this Friday!

As promoted in the 1982 poster seen here, PFMI celebrated over a decade of local filmmaking by touring a package of local 16mm and Super 8 work around the world. The 1982 Pittsburgh Filmmakers Traveling Film Program included work by many of our friends and idols. It was a testament to the reach of Pittsburgh film with audiences outside of our city.

The second image is part of the 1974 poster for the first group show of artists affiliated with Pittsburgh Filmmakers.

This Friday, we bring together an eclectic group of films connected with Pittsburgh Filmmakers in the 1970s. We’ve rounded up 16mm and Super 8 films from filmmakers, archives, and arts institutions all across the US for one of our most ambitious shows yet.

While this is not intended to be a comprehensive view of PFMI in the 1970s (an impossible task for one show), we’ve got quite the crash course in store for you, in under two hours. And Pittsburgh Sound + Image has not shown any of these films before!

Tippi Comden • Sally Dixon • Paul Glabicki • Victor Grauer • Roger Jacoby • Dave Lee • Leonard Lies • Janis Crystal Lipzin • Lynn Squilla • Harriet Stein • Dane Todd • Leo Vale • Natalka Voslakov

On 16mm, Super 8, and digital

ESSENTIAL PITTSBURGH: 1970s PFMI is Friday, June 26th at 8:00pm at @theglitterboxtheater. $12 or free for Pittsburgh Sound + Image members. Tickets in bio! by @fleamarketfilms

I'm honored to have the chance to curate @evolvecoaching's annual Evening of Arts for Autism! And I'd love to see submissions from my fellow autistic/neurodivergent friends. You have until June 30th to submit up to three pieces.

The theme of this year's show is "Diwali," and the wonderful folks at Evolve have some words of inspiration...

Taking place on the darkest day of its lunar month, Diwali is a celebration of good, knowledge, prosperity, and light. As you think about artwork submissions, consider one or more of the following:

🪔Who or what brings light into your life?

☀️What do you want to illuminate or honor?

🏮Where do you see victory and hope?

💡What does it mean to create light in darkness?

⚡What does it mean to connect with an ancient story?

🔦How does it feel to gather with family or community?

You'll find a link with more submission details in Evolve's bio! Or let me know if you have questions! A square graphic depicting three ornate diya lamps against an orange and purple gradient background. Text reads: Evolve Coachin, Evening of Arts for Autism, October 17th, 2026. by @fleamarketfilms
