Sorry it’s taken me so long to write to you & to publicly acknowledge your death. Mourning you has been the loneliest and most traumatic thing I’ve ever experienced. You were one of my closest friends & someone I just assumed would always be in my life. You were the coolest girl in every single way & didn’t think you were, which made you even cooler. I keep replaying all of our memories together from the very first time I met you outside of a house show, to the very last moment I saw you at my work & gave you a hug & told you that I loved you. You always were & forever will be my favorite artist. I am so lucky to have your art all over my body forever. I am so thankful you left me a letter before deciding to leave this world. I promise to continue doing everything you told me to do, like getting chills at a music festival while listening to my favorite bands & falling in love. I am so happy you were able to experience some of those things with me. You did see me fall in love for the first time & we did get chills together watching our favorite bands like Radiohead. I wish I could keep doing all of those things with you by my side, but that’s not possible. Sadly, I’m not spiritual or believe in any of that, so it feels pretty absolute that I’ll never see you again. I am sorry for saying no to you when you asked me to run away to Mexico with you on your birthday last year. I am sorry for not watching one more movie with you during your final months because I was too consumed in my own sadness because of a boy. I struggle everyday still thinking I could’ve done more. My therapist told me when someone decides to do something like what you did, there’s no way of changing their minds. I really want to believe that. Losing you made me reconnect with your sister and form the most natural & beautiful bond, which has truly saved me. I will be daydreaming today on your birthday that we are both in Mexico listening to Slowdive & going in the ocean. Love you forever Lucy. 🩵 by @fleshbruja
