Black Beauty is not simply a story about a horse. It is a story about the soul—about remaining gentle.

He moves through life belonging to many, yet always carrying something within him that no one can truly own. He knows freedom, friendship and love. He also knows loss, cruelty and the quiet ache of being misunderstood.

And still, he does not become what has hurt him.

There is something deeply human in that.

Black Beauty reminds us that strength is not always found in fighting back. Sometimes strength is carrying the scars of where you’ve been without allowing them to harden your heart.

And in the end, he finds peace. by @fletchphotography

Another beautiful day @maunakeahotel by @fletchphotography

September issue of Kona Coast City Lifestyle is out!🐴🌺 Thank you @juliasilvakurppa @fletchphotography @konacoastmagazine for asking us to do this incredibly fun shoot with you at Sierra Haven Ranch. Since I was recovering from one of my riding accidents, I wasn’t able to do all of the action shots, but @kayhodg is absolutely the better rider, and she and my boy Mac were the perfect pair. I officially sold the ranch this week, so this editorial coming out in the September issue feels like the perfect bookend to the Hawaii Ranch chapter of my life. With my kids and @kayhodg riding alongside me, those were some of the most joyful days of my life. Grateful the ranch will continue to thrive with @kayhodg as the new lady in charge! Congratulations @kayhodg @fletchphotography on a beautiful editorial celebration ✨ #ranch #equestrian #friends #hawaii #horse by @fletchphotography

There’s a certain magic in preparing a meal with ingredients grown, raised, or caught just down the road. Maybe it’s fresh greens harvested by a local farmer, ulu picked off a friends tree, or locally caught fish brought in that morning. These ingredients do more than add flavor—they connect us to the place we live. When we cook with what’s in season and close to home, every meal becomes a small reflection of the land, the people who care for it, and the rhythms of the island.

Big mahalos to @fletchphotography for capturing me in one of my favorite places to shop @pukalanimidweekmarket by @fletchphotography
