Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads ⚡️🚗

Totally stepped out of my comfort zone to push my skills at the workshop hosted by @inyourfayes at @papierfabrieknijmegen, and it was next level.

Getting to shoot an iconic car like the DeLorean, @sofievhl crushing it as our model, and that incredible shifting light as the evening rolled in? Absolute perfection. by @fleurjacbs

At the start of the year I made myself a promise: make more videos.

So instead of waiting until I can afford a supercar, I grabbed my camera and worked with what I had.

And that's how "Film your mom's car like it's a supercar" was born. 🚗💨

My focus has always been on photography, so filmmaking is still pretty new to me. I have still a lot to learn, but I'm enjoying the proces :)

Soms kom je op een plek die meteen een beetje als een sprookje voelt. 🏰

Kasteel Steenenburg is zo’n plek. Misschien ken je het nog van vroeger, want hier zat ooit Het Land van Ooit. Tegenwoordig is het een plek waar je kunt overnachten, dineren en even helemaal tot rust komt.

Wij mochten hier een nachtje blijven slapen en wat een ervaring! De rust van de omgeving, het prachtige kasteel, het heerlijke eten, gastvrijheid en een fijne kamer om in te slapen. Alles klopte en was tot in de details verzorgd.

Echt zo’n plek waar je even helemaal weg bent van de drukte en waar je heerlijk in de watten wordt gelegd.

Honeyguide @fleurjacbs ging op een soloreis naar de Noorse Fjorden om te zwemmen met orka’s en walvissen. Ze deelt haar ervaring met jullie:

“Terwijl anderen de zon opzochten, trok mij juist de kou. Last minute en solo belandde ik in de Noorse fjorden, zwemmend tussen orka’s en bultruggen. Stil, intens en bijna onwerkelijk.”

“Onder water hoorde ik hun geluiden, boven me danste het noorderlicht. Poolnacht, ruige bergen en ontmoetingen die alles in perspectief zetten. Soms zijn het juist dit soort impulsieve reizen die je het meest bijblijven.” 🐋

I booked this trip on a quiet evening, a last minute decision, a little impulsive, completely solo. 1,5 week later I was standing on a boat in the Norwegian fjords, wrapped in thermals, waiting for the first glimpse of orcas and humpbacks. Then suddenly, there they were. Gliding past me in the dark blue water, curious, gentle, enormous.

Swimming there, in the ice cold arctic water, surrounded by orcas and humpbacks appearing like shadows in the blue, I felt this mix of awe, gratitude and overwhelming happiness. No fear, just a deep surprising sense of calm.

And as the northern lights moved above us, I realized that this last-minute solo adventure turned into one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life 🤍🐋 taken in Norway Fjords by @fleurjacbs

Let's talk gear. Right now, I shoot with a Canon EOS R6 Mark II and a RF 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. It's reliable, handles low light beautifully, and the versatility of the 24-70mm means I can capture everything from wide landscapes to more intimate scenes without switching lenses.

But here's the thing, I didn't start here. For years, I shot with a Canon 700D and a simple 24mm prime lens. That basic setup taught me everything. It pushed me to move, to compose carefully, to really see the scene in front of me. Some of my favorite images came from that camera.

Great gear helps, absolutely. But it's not what makes a photo powerful. What makes an image come alive is when everything aligns: the right light, the conditions you've been waiting for, the right moment, and then bringing it all together in the edit. That's when a photo starts telling the story you felt when you were there. Those are the moments that make me incredibly happy, the ones that remind me why I do this.

My advice: Don't let gear hold you back. Start with what you have. Learn your camera inside out. Invest in better equipment when you can, but invest even more in being out there, practicing, failing, trying again. The best camera is the one you have with you.
