What a great week in Tobago! I wanted to come back and really put some effort into fishing the flats. I was really fortunate to catch my first permit with my dude @saltwatersniipa17 . It may not have been a jumbo, but I can check it off the list. I spent most mornings wading solo, and it did not disappoint. I found some nice bonefish, big yellow jacks, snapper and even a juvenile tarpon for good measure. I met some awesome people along the way. Samoi, lehron, Tyler and George to name a few. They welcomed me in, and made me feel like old friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. In all my years of fishing, I had never targeted bonefish before today. Conditions were as poor as they could get, but @kevinfrose and I had to give it a shot. He struck first with a really nice fish, and if the day had ended there I would have been happy. Our guide Jamie put in the work, didn’t give up, and put me on a great fish to wrap up the trip. I’m truly thankful I was fortunate enough to get my first bonefish with a good buddy. It was just what I’d hoped for. I’ll do a big Tobago post later, but today’s highlight just couldn’t wait. #flexappealcharters #trinidadandtobago🇹🇹 #bonefish. YO YO YO It’s MANNY'S TALK & COOK THURSDAY! 🎣🇹🇹

Coming to you from Trinidad on a guys’ fishing trip!

You know what I’ve been thinking about? Friendships and stories.

One of the guys here I’ve known since elementary school. Another friendship started just last year. And some of these guys? I didn’t even know them before this trip.

But that’s the cool thing about life.

You sit around telling the old stories—the crazy things you did when you were young, the good times, the things you can laugh about 30 or 40 years later.

But while you’re telling those old stories… you’re creating new ones.

A fishing trip. A big catch. Getting soaked in the rain. Busting each other’s chops. Sitting around having a drink or sharing a meal. Those little moments might not seem like much today, but someday they become the stories you tell.

And somewhere along the way, somebody who was a stranger becomes a friend.

So here’s my THURSDAY thought: Keep your old friends close, but always leave room at the table for a new one.

And above everything else—be kind. You never know what somebody else is carrying, and sometimes something as simple as including somebody, helping somebody out, or making them laugh can mean more than you realize.

Keep making memories. Keep making friends. And keep being kind.

Because the best stories in life aren't about where you went—they're about who was there with you.

The bite was tough for us today, but these guys put in the work and hung in there with me. We caught plenty of shorts, and assorted non target species, but getting on the quality fish was a task. We moved around and fished hard, and got really lucky with a solid triple tail to end the day. Sometimes it’s good to be lucky!
