Hey, this is my fly fishing/wildlife account for all the wildlife I encounter during my fishing trips. I’ll mostly post fishing and critters on this account.

Caught my new PB Halibut of 25inches!!!

After the lecture, I boogied my way to the coast to try and get on something while these hot temperatures were coming in. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed!

Never expected a slow winter day to produce one of the largest fish I’ve ever caught.
•
Winter morning sesh with @tonylisafishing and @landolandsfish today. Throughout the whole day I hadn’t had any luck (until the end) with the day mostly consisting of a couple bites here and there and decent sized spotty landed.
•
Just before we started to leave, I’d change my fishing technique from a long slow strips, to a faster forceful strip. The streamers I made didn’t have any action being slow stripped, but were better presented much like a jerk bait, with fast jerking movements followed with a short-medium pause in between. This proved to be very effective as I had a massive calico bite as I was striping the fly back to shore. I hadn’t realized how big the fish was until it pulled all the line beneath my feet and started to pull drag. I was very excited to have a fish that could pull line, as it had been a goal of mine to catch a strong hearty fish. This absolute unit bent my 8wt rod like it was a pool noodle. The fight was absolutely wild, as I was constantly trying to keep this fish from diving in the rocks. Not only was it my first calico but it was also a very large fish for being on shore, so all of us celebrated once it was successfully netted. Wasn’t expecting much, fishing the ocean during the midst of winter, but nonetheless just proves that you never know what’s going to happen until you go out and cast your rod.

Small collection of catches this past winter.
•
Locking down the winter fishing so that way spring and summer is just gonna be nonstop action. I’m testing out different ways to fish on the paddle board and its safe to say that whatever I’m doing is working.
Still revising some things but come summer time, I’ll be locked in 🔒. First couple fish of the year are some tanks which I’m pretty happy with.

Fall fishing frenzy!!
•
Lowkey haven’t been posting much and pretty lazy editing. Come winter I’ll maybe start some stuff but besides that today’s fishing was one of the best salt water fly fishing sessions I’ve had by far. Took a friend out n we paddled around for a bit and caught a lizard fish each. They’re so cool and unfortunately didn’t have the bucket otherwise they’d be another topic species I’d want to make a reel about. After we didn’t catch much till we headed to shore n found the motherload of yellowfin croaker and 1 single queenfish. An absolutely amazing day of salt water fishing.

Morning went from 0 to 100 FAST!!!
•
The first glimpse I knew that I had a good halibut, but I didn’t know if it was an underlegal or a overlegal. With my line tight and walking backwards, I caught my second glimpse of what was at the end of my line. Immediately from that second glance I knew I had a keeper. Once beached, I measured it at 23’ inches (on a later remeasure it was actually 22.5). I did hesitate whether to release my first legal butt back or to take it back for the family. As seen in the last section of the video, I decided to keep it as I knew that this might be the only time I catch a legal hali in a while. I don’t harvest fish often, but when I do I make sure to dispatch the fish Asap, and to appreciate the fish for providing a meal for me and my family. Along with that, I also do my best to follow the regulations regarding specific species to ensure I’m doing my part to ensure sustainable fishing practices. With that said, I’m sure as hell stoked on my 3rd halibut on the fly!!!

Catching sunfish, while catching up with a close friend!
•
With my fishing account I have alot of my friends ask me if I can take them fishing, and to that I say of course! Started of the local park (with no luck shocker) so we boogied down to one of my little honey holes with plenty of sunfish. I’m not an expert fly angler by any standards, but I can say that I’ve taught about a dozen or so people how to catch (not perfectly but enough to get out there n catch).
•
I like taking people out to fish and this trip was no different. When I first started fishing it took me a while to nail down the fishing game in Cali. It doesn’t help that the fishing pressure is so intense here, but us anglers make do with what we got. This is the reason why I love taking people out to this tiny sunfish creek, not only because I can guarantee them at least 1 fish, but also because it is shocking beautiful being in an urban environment.

Thursday Trolling for some different salt water species!
•
Third time breaking out the paddle board. I’ve started to get the hang of fishing on it since I managed to catch a new species on the fly!! I caught 3 fish in total but honestly even if I didn’t catch anything it was just a beautiful day on the water.

Had a cheeky little carpin before finals session at the creek.
•
Summer course is just about finished with my Final coming real soon. Still hasn’t stopped me from getting out for a tad bit to wind down from chemistry. Fish are getting smarter and starting to realize my leeches aren’t food. Going to need to stop applying pressure to them or find another fly pattern they like.

Been a hot minute since I’ve hooked some Spots.
•
Lecture ended early so b-lined it to the beach to fish for whatever bites. Hadn’t had a spotted bay bass in a long time so figured why not enjoy some time on the water catching one of my favorite fighting fish. Beach was crowded but as soon as night settled in the bite turned on. Still, it was quite the slow day, but luckily my tried and true faithful articulated fly got me hooked onto some bass tonight. This fly alone has probably caught me a handful of fish already and is 100% my confidence fly for salt water bass.

Been real busy with this summer course, but managed to sneak some time away to go pan for some gold at the carp canal! Waters still bit murky from the rains last week so visibility is a tad bit low. Nonetheless the sight fishing still remained amazing and I managed to lasso my 5th mudsuker on my trusty 3wt!!!

Man absolutely killing the carp game this week!! Actually had to delay this reel cause I feel like I’ve been spamming yall with my cathces 😂 Anyways now that summer courses are in that means less time to fish. Don’t mean that I won’t have time to fish bc I’ll be fishing weekends as much as possible 😂. The carp bite has been insane and I can’t wait to get on the water. Will be fishing more places once Im out of summer courses tho. But until then, sunfish and occasional carp
