I was so pleased to finally get to the red carpet and hear John Cassidy that a high five wasn’t enough - I went for a (sweaty) bro hug! I did offer to pay the dry cleaning bill for his Bobby Dazzler 🕺🏻

The Highland Fling was far and away the hardest thing I've ever done, but I probably should've expected that before I started in all honesty. Regardless of that, this was one of the highlights of my running journey for so many reasons. I got to experience a race that's been on my bucket list for years and enjoy the beauty of Scotland's trails on a simply incredible day alongside familiar faces and some new friends too. It was so much more humid than any of us expected, so time goals were out the window from pretty much the foot of Conic Hill onwards. My asthma was playing up at any sort of incline, but the medics at Rowardennan and Inversnaid said as long as I was sensible I could continue running. My stubbornness kept me going, but also knowing how important this whole experience was. I crossed the line 4 hours after I was planning on, but the important thing is I made it there. The added bonus of the first ever Scottish non-binary champion in any discipline is very special, but as always the growth of the category means more to me than anything else. I've fought for this for so long, and I have so much respect for the other people who have fought alongside me, the event organisers who continue to be inclusive, and @scottishathletics for honouring the category in the absence of what could be regarded as standard competition. The Highland Fling nearly broke me, my lungs and throat still feel broken but I made it and to be honest that's all I care about.
I am very proud to be a national champion, but I am also incredibly proud of the money I have raised for @warchilduk . Thank you to everyone who has helped me surpass my target, it really means a lot taken in Official West Highland Way by @flingrace

Highland Fling ✅ 53 miles , 2300m of elevation gain completed in 12:28:15. Running from Milngavie to Tyndrum on the southern part of the West highland way. What an amazing race and event the @flingrace was, brilliant volunteers at all the aid stations and just an amazing atmosphere. The midges were horrendous, the heat and humidity also adding to the challenge of the day. And the section at the Lochside is totally insane. A special thank you @catherinew2806 for all the support, encouragement in training and throughout the day 🔔🔔💚💚 taken in Tyndrum by @flingrace

Ding Ding BLING! What did I get for finishing the Highland Fling Race, 53 miles along the West Highland Way.... Well actually quite a lot!! Such a well organised event and amazing supporters and volunteers along the way. A tough but incredible route. Get it on your list of races to do!! 👌
