A year ago they said nobody was using the Fort Lauderdale Beach courts.

This weekend Broward proved otherwise 🌴🏀

Packed courts all day.
3v3s, 4v4s, full court 5v5, dunk contest, food, music, and the whole city outside.

This was bigger than basketball.

This was proof that speaking up, signing petitions, and standing together preserved something special.

The city tried to take the courts.

The people fought back.

And this event was the victory lap 🔥

90 years of beachfront basketball in Ft. Lauderdale. Iconic landmark protected by city ordinance since 1953 depicts the old beach courts right by las Olas where the first Olympic sized pool called the (Las Olas Casino pool ) later was moved to it’s current location in the 1950’s . Basketball at the beach has been rich in Ft. Lauderdale history for almost a century.
