Ikebana is not merely the art of flower arranging; it is a moment to pause and appreciate being here and now—an encounter with nature in that stillness. Ikebana has taught me about harmony, but also about the asymmetry within that harmony—an asymmetry that, just as in nature, becomes harmony itself. It has taught me to notice the space surrounding the arrangement, which creates that harmony and establishes balance. It has also taught me observation, calmness, patience, and appreciation—the subtle elegance found in simplicity.
