My birthday month got the best of me, yall, and now I'm playing life catch-up! But Pottery Pookie's Playlist will resume its semi-irregular programming shortly!

With some other coffee and culture projects pending too!

There’s something both tender and unsettling about finally seeing the returns on your effort—when the wins start to arrive, but the fear of their fleeting nature makes it hard to enjoy them.

It’s that tension between wanting to savor the moment… and already preparing for the end.

This has been my own route to being a true "master of none". Wanting to do and prepare for it all. When we care deeply and have been burned more deeply, it's hard to drop anything we’ve fought hard to carry.

But at some point, something has to give.

So the question is:

What can be paused or gently let go of, so what matters most can actually be felt?

Pottery Pookie Playlist Vol. 5

Enjoy the view from my solo drive from California to Alaska—one of those unreal emerald lakes in Banff. That whole trip was a risk. Just me, the road, and the deep quiet that comes when you trust yourself enough to go it alone.

Lately I’ve been reminded of all the risks I’ve taken that have led me to the most beautiful friendships, on the most random roads, through the most terrifying parts of life—and the most rewarding.

Fear is the threshold. I cross it often—and fall just as much. Sheeit this page might fall, too. But if the process makes me softer, wiser, bolder—then it was never failure. Just preparation for whatever’s next.

Pookie's drink of the week!

An iced yuzu matcha tonic—zesty, electric, and just bougie enough to make you feel like you’ve got your life together. It carried me through the final stretch of studio time this week and powered me straight into this weekend's Pookie Posting . Sure, it’s almost 4 AM. But I’m awake, our sweet pottery babies are all tucked in, and the playlist is live—so I say it counts

@spanishlandschool got cut off, but that Channel was this weeks side quest listen.

Pottery Pookie Playlist // Vol. 4

Shot mostly in the home studio this week. The kind of week that moves in whispers—tired bones, full heart.
Grateful for the quiet. For the hands that hold us without touching. For friendships that don't ask for performance.

Still, a constant grief hums low—democracy unraveled, lives stolen senselessly, cruelly. It can be hard to channel, hard to keep the rage from swallowing The Art, and with it, The Spirit.

So we center. We stay steady. We spin.

We let our art, our hobbies, our wonder hold what we cannot.

Memory Log: Spring 2023

Today I’m reminded of the beautiful time I finally allowed myself in Thailand—a long, quiet exhale of a trip.

I’d given myself four months to focus on art, to daydream, to come back to life a little. After years in survival mode—burned out from overwork, stripped down by a brain disease, and let down by the institutions I’d served—I needed space.

That break reminded me to redirect all the knowledge I’d poured into neuroscience and care work back into myself. To put that same effort into my own healing.

Art was always the dream that felt just out of reach. Not because I didn’t care for it, but because I thought I was bad at it. And honestly? I kind of was. Not in spirit, but in execution—rushed, anxious, disconnected.

That’s why my time at Slow Hands Studio meant so much. The name alone carried the reminder I needed. His teaching style—patient, intuitive, grounded—finally made sense to me. After months of frustration, it clicked. Slow Down.

In essence, the trip was exactly what I’d been craving—the rhythm of Thailand that reminds you to heal, to work honestly, to get your massage, ไม่เป็นไร. And my time learning there was the perfect compliment to that.

Lush and green, open-air and full of light. Jolly dogs keeping casual watch. The perfect playlist to meet you right where you are. Time moves softer there.

And so do I.

Ay ay ay... still technically the weekend! Made it by the skin of my teeth!

Come clean and reorganize my tore up studio with me and one of my besties since the 10th grade (Nothing like co-cleaning and assembling furniture to make the time fly). If you look closely, you might catch us talking sh*t about a high school teacher we absolutely could not stand and who likely also couldn't stand us 👀😂
