Keeping Alaska flying sometimes means a 16-hour round trip to Canada. ❄️🧊

Floats Up ⬆️ mechanics Rob and Will packed up their tools, drove through snow and ice to Beaver Creek, worked straight through the night to resolve bad carburetor issues and get @alaskagrizzlysafaris Beaver back on its way to the Lower 48. 🧰

While Jerry and his team got some sleep, Rob and Will warmed the Beaver back up for the crews morning departure.

This week, one of our own added ASES to his certificate!

Will spends his winters turning wrenches with us @floatsupalaska and his summers building time in the cockpit as he works toward a career as a commercial bush pilot.

We love watching our mechanics continue to grow as pilots, too. There’s something pretty special about knowing the airplane from both sides of the controls — and that experience always finds its way back to the hangar.

So proud of you, Will!

And Wes @flatlakeinstruction — having you as his instructor makes this one a little extra special. Thanks for sharing your experience with one of our own. ❤️

These classic DHC-2s remind us every day that aviation is a hands-on trade. Two sets of hands. Sometimes three. A lot of communication, patience, and experience.

Old-school maintenance at its finest. You’ve got to get in there, work together, and get it done right.

Kind of a full-circle moment for us this time of year — we’re winding down the long winter maintenance season and getting ready to deliver these airplanes back to customers as their Alaska flying season ramps up.⬆️
