Everyone preparing for Film Stories with Menna Laura Meijer at Nieuwe Instituut (sound on!). Are you? Get your tickets via the mint2โ€™s link in bio ๐Ÿค @sam__oht Forrest Meijer @jipboxstart @ramzielhassani @feevangils camera + edit @sami_el_hassani Menna Laura Meijer is a Rotterdam-based documentary filmmaker and producer. In 2005, she started her own production company mint film office, under whose name she has since worked as both a director and producer. Some of you might know her for films such as โ€œNow something is slowly changingโ€ (2018), We Margiela (2017), 69: Love Sex Senior (2013), and the recent series Fortuyn: Un-Dutch. With this series, she has drawn renewed attention to a complex and controversial chapter in Dutch political history. With Fortuyn: Un-Dutch mint film office recently won the DDG Award for best documentary series and a nomination for De Tegel. The score of the series, composed by Beau Zwart, won the Music in Media Award. But in this edition, we will not focus solely on her recent work but also look back at her archive, including Tags (1997), Girls (2003), and Sexy (2007). We will explore how these earlier works and her ongoing interest in themes of sex, gender, and intimacy have shaped her trajectory as a filmmaker. Film Stories, curated by Rotterdam-based film production company mint2, is a series of film events centered around a director and their work. Film Stories presents the full picture of filmmaking, with all the compromises, decisions, and dilemmas that come with it. Setbacks and how to overcome them are central to the conversation between the filmmaker, moderator, and audience. Please note this event is in Dutch! by @flomeijer.nl
For the next edition of Film Stories, I will be interviewing my own mother, Menna Laura Meijer. Join us next week on July 2 19:00 at @nieuweinstituut . Iโ€™m balancing between being super nervous and completely relaxed. There are so many themes Iโ€™d like to discuss. Like her love for copying other peoples work, staging scenes in documentary filmmaking, her use of music and how sometimes she filmed scenes just so she can use a certain song, building trust and relationships with your main characters, developing an authentic visual language, and how some of the films she made in the past might be considered sensitive topics today. We will dive into her archives and watch her first films, but also watch some of her newer work. Hope to see you there! Tickets via @mint2.nl link in bio. by @flomeijer.nl
I will miss this ๐Ÿ’” Thank u thank u David Spanish @yaseminkvsr and @lykle and of course super star Naomi and her family and all the cows and cats and sheeps and chickens and my dog Forrest by @flomeijer.nl
๐ŸŒŸ SPREKER SESSIE #13 - FLO MEIJER ๐ŸŒŸ Filmmaker @flomeijer.nl specialiseerde zich in fashionfilm aan Central Saint Martins in Londen. Dinsdag 14 april, 19:30 - 21:15 @slachtstraatfilmtheater ๐Ÿ’ฌ Voertaal: Nederlands ๐ŸปBorrel vanaf 21:15, ticket is inclusief een consumptiebon ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธTickets via @slachtstraatfilmtheater #linkinbio ๐Ÿ’ถโ‚ฌ10 regulier, โ‚ฌ5 student, โ‚ฌ0 Cineville by @flomeijer.nl
