In 2009, Shahid Datawala spent over a year photographing Mumbai’s iconic Liberty Cinema, capturing the grandeur, architectural detail and atmosphere of this historic Art Deco landmark.

The resulting body of work offers a rare photographic record of the cinema at a particular moment in its history, preserving its distinctive character before time would inevitably transform the building.

The complete series is available framed in unique, handcrafted frames designed by @whalesong.gallery, making each work a considered art piece in its own right.

This body of work was presented at the @lisbondesignweek.

For enquiries and acquisition details, please DM.

@datawala is represented by @deeyaparis in Paris and by us in Portugal. by @flores_textilestudio

Flores Studio is happy to present Holding the Fall for Lisbon Design Week 26, an exhibition about fragments, memory, and transformation. Through textiles, ceramics, glass, and aluminium, the works explore reuse, collaboration, and material rebirth.
A fragile landscape of pieces that feel layered, imperfect, and alive.
