🇰🇷 A very special Hangeul Week begins.

2026 is no ordinary year for Hangeul.

✨ 580 years since the proclamation of *Hunminjeongeum*
✨ 100 years since the introduction of the day that became Hangeul Day
✨ and now, Hangeul Week 2026 in Seoul

To mark this special anniversary, I had the opportunity to interview Kim Seul-ong, Hangeul and Hunminjeongeum researcher who has dedicated almost 50 years to the Korean script.

We talked about Hangeul’s beginnings and the philosophy behind it, its growing global presence, and what its future might look like in the age of AI.

One thought from our conversation stayed with me:

Hangeul is more than a writing system. It was created for people.

And 580 years later, its story is still evolving, far beyond Korea. 🌏

📖 My interview for Korea.net is now online on the German section and can also be found in the link in my bio : http://german.korea.net/NewsFocus/HonoraryReporters/view?articleId=300448

🇰🇷✨ Korean cultural heritage meets K-pop!
Since September 29, a new BTS × MU:DS collection has been available! 💜 @bts.bighitofficial and @muds_museumgoods
Inspired by traditional Korean Munjado, the DALMAJUNG collection reinterprets elements of Korea’s cultural heritage through contemporary products connected to BTS.
But what exactly is MU:DS? What inspired this collection? And where can you find it online or in Seoul? 👀
I took a closer look at the collaboration and its connection to the collections of Korea’s national museums in my latest article for Korea.net. 🇰🇷

🇰🇷🧵 From waste to art and from Seoul to Portugal.

What happens when discarded banners and industrial materials are given a second life through traditional Korean textile techniques?

For Contextile 2026 @contextile_biennial in Guimarães, Portugal, Korean textile artist Kim Jiyong presents <<Narratives of the Marginalized>>, a work that transforms materials often considered waste into something with a new voice, meaning and dignity.

Hey @funday.korea.networks , I take your challenge! 🍜🔥
Meet my original ramyun recipe: BLACK FOREST CHAPAGETTI — where Korea meets Germany. 🇰🇷🤝🇩🇪

Inspired by childhood memories of mushroom picking during forest walks — and the pear tree in our garden — I wanted to bring a little feeling of home into Korean Chapagetti. 🍄🍐 And Black Forest is a special area in south Germany.

Cozy and comforting, yet full of flavor, texture and freshness.

The plating is subtly inspired by Obangsaek (오방색):
⚫ 흑 — Chapagetti / umami & depth
⚪ 백 — Nashi pear / freshness & crispness
🟡 황 — potato / golden crunch
🟢 청 — spring onion / aromatic freshness
🔴 적 — red cress / gentle pepperiness & freshness

RECIPE | 1 serving
1 Nongshim Chapagetti
80–100 g shiitake & king oyster mushrooms
½ small potato
15–20 g Nashi pear
2 garlic cloves
1 spring onion
1 tbsp dry German red wine
red cress
2 tbsp neutral cooking oil
600 ml water
optional roasted sesame seeds
1 pan + 1 pot

HOW TO MAKE IT
Peel the potato, cut into thin matchsticks, rinse and dry well. Slice the garlic and mushrooms; cut the spring onion into rings.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry the potato until golden and crispy. Set aside. Add more oil as needed and fry the garlic until golden like chips; set aside. Sear the mushrooms, add the red wine and let it reduce.

Bring 600 ml water to a boil. Add Chapagetti noodles and flakes powder and cook for about 4 min. Reserve about 100 ml noodle water, then drain.

Add noodles to the mushrooms with the Chapagetti seasoning and oil packet. Add a little reserved noodle water and toss until glossy.

Peel and dice the Nashi pear. Plate the Chapagetti and finish with crispy potato, garlic chips, spring onion, pear, optional sesame and red cress.

Earthy. Savory. Crispy. Juicy. Fresh.
Nongshim noodles. New story. 🍜

✨Taste review: Rich and savory with earthy Chapagetti slightly creamy sauce, crispy potato and garlic, balanced by the juicy freshness of pear and little spice of red cress and spring onions. Cozy and comforting in the mix of noodles and mushrooms, with contrasting flavors and textures in every bite. Wanna try?

🎬 Behind the scenes of "Becoming Kim"

Behind some of the impressive worlds we see in K-pop — murals, hand-painted backgrounds, sets, props, graffiti and other visual elements — there are real artists working behind the scenes. 🎨🖌️

One of them is Oh Ye-seul (오예슬), the artist and founder behind Color Hunter @colorhunter_oh , together with her hardworking team of creative hands behind the scenes.

Their work reminds us that before we see that perfect shot in a music video, concept photo or performance, there can be hours and hours of painting, designing and creating by human hands. 🎬🎨

And there is so much more to discover behind those colors.

Curious to find out whether you have already seen her work without knowing it?

Let’s give some love to the artists and hardworking teams behind the scenes who help create the K-pop worlds you love. 🫶🎨

Whoever follows Korean music shows will sooner or later come across “Phantom Singer”. Its fourth season brought together three amazing voices: baritone and musical actor Kim Jihoon, tenor Jin Won and bass-baritone Roh Hyunwoo.

Together, they became Libelante (리베란테).

In 2026, Libelante are celebrating three years of their journey together, and right now they are preparing for their acoustic concert “HOPE” on August 22 and 23 at the Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul.

They also represent a special side of Korean culture. Through their individual voices, their different musical backgrounds and what they create together on stage, they have found their own way of contributing to the Korean music scene while sharing another side of Korean culture beyond its borders.

Thank you, Libelante, for bringing so much light into the world and to the people’s hearts through your voices, whether through your solo performances or together on stage. We wish you good health and, of course, a wonderful and successful concert.

Also, thank you to @official.emkent for making this interview possible, and special thanks go to @official.libelante for taking the time to answer the questions despite their busy rehearsal schedule.🫶🏻

Music connects people across borders, so we hope to see you in Europe and the rest of the world one day, too. 🇪🇺🇰🇷

Link also in bio.

@koreanet_official – wouldn’t they be a great choice for our year-end ceremony? 😉

And now a question for you: If you had the chance to interview your favorite Korean band or one of its members, what would you ask them? 🎤

Some artists create objects. Others create memories that stay with you.

Two years ago, during a trip to Seoul, I came across Seyun Choi's incredible work. Unfortunately, the exhibition was closed by the time I arrived, but his unique creations stayed with me long after I returned home. I knew I wanted to learn more about the artist behind them.

It was truly an honor to finally connect after two years with Seyun Choi @seyun.c and interview him. Thank you for sharing your story, your passion, and your artistic vision. Please continue your incredible creative journey. Wishing you a wonderful and successful exhibition!

If you're in Korea and would like to experience his remarkable works in person, don't miss the group exhibition at the Jeonbuk Museum of Art in Wanju, running until 11 October 2026.
