Cheers to Change~

After an exciting whirlwind of change over the last few months muddled by the apparent downfall of democracy and world order, I've finally had some time to reflect on what to say to commemorate my last 6 years in a machine. When the world is on fire, personal development seems somewhat irrelevant, and sharing it with the internet even more so. What I've come to realize, though, is that celebrating yourself and the immediate space your life takes up can provide a bit of light in dark times, to yourself and even to those that care about you!

Since my first day in a snowcat, I've grown exponentially as both an operator and a person. My 23 year old self first learning the ropes would never have imagined I'd see myself as the first woman to build at Xgames only 5 years later. I went from someone terrified of the spotlight to a girl traveling the country holding presentations, leading builds and events, and making meaningful connections with people from all parts of the world. Operating has brought me to the smallest resorts in Alaska and Wisconsin, to the top of a volcano for the sunset and sunrise every summer, to countless hours in a ditch finding the right angles, to seeing myself as someone capable of anything with enough hard work and dedication. And the best part is, it was really fucking fun.

I think what's more important than where I've been, is who I've met along the way. The people in this industry are all connected by the love and passion of this sport that drew us all in, and share something that most other people will never find. To dedicate your work to your passions is a beautiful thing, and to experience loving your job is as close to fulfillment as one can get. There is nobody quite as dedicated as the people in this industry that live and breathe their work.

I've had the opportunity to be mentored by some of the most creative and passionate people I'll ever come across. I've been trained, pushed, and held to the same high standards as everyone around me despite the fact that I may not have looked like most of those I worked with, and for that I'm incredibly lucky.

X Games Aspen 2024 🤝

I'll be wearing a smile for a long time after this. Getting to be part of this event still seems surreal, I've dreamt of being on this build the moment I first got behind the sticks, and every year since. The amount of nerves I came into this event with could be felt for miles, but that soon faded when I found a team that did everything they could to make me successful. I am grateful to work with a team like @snowparktech that already feels like family. We're all just a bunch of kids who like to make shapes and have a good time 🫡

Not only did I get to push snow around and facilitate part of the event during the games, but I got to do it alongside my man @wizard_weez and my long-time mentor and friend @tterpening711 Full circle moment for sure 💓

So many hands go into making this possible. Thanks to everyone who makes this event what it is 🫶 @xgames

Year 3 of Take The Rake 💌

Every year, I can't seem to figure out how to fit enough moments and words onto a post to accurately convey the power that comes from this event. Being surrounded by women I've looked up to, love, respect, and admire, leaves me feeling like I could take over the fucking world.

In college, I was taught that making connections trumps all. Sure, industry connections and friends in the right places will help to get you where you want to go.. But it took me a long time to realize that connecting with others on a personal level, people that look like you and go through the same shit, gives you something you can't earn on a paycheck or get from any award. That's power.

And in the end, there is nothing more powerful than a group of women coming together for a common goal, to prove that they are capable of anything, and to show all the other girls and women of the world that they are capable too.

Thank you to everyone who makes this week what it is. @someginger, the woman that gracefully wears every color hat without breaking a sweat. @harmoneejohnson, my partner in crime always, @jessrichitelli and @walshmt , some incredible women that have paved the way for all of us in this industry, and @trollhaugentroll, for being the special place that made this a reality.

An ode to mile pipe 🥀

If there's anything in this world I absolutely cannot get enough of, it's this 18 foot hole in the ground. I could write an encyclopedia of reasons why halfpipe is the best thing to ever see a snowboard, but all it takes is dropping in and riding it to know exactly what I'm talking about. Absolutely out of this world grateful to have spent the last 9 months working in programs with @kingerjosh and getting to learn the ropes on cutting this thing, I'm fully hooked. Catch the frozen wave again next summer 🌊
