Hard for me to believe that all of this happened only few weeks ago.

And if you ask me what I liked, I’d say the people.

The Indonesians and their way to make you feel “seen” no matter where you come from.

The Orangutans live up in the trees of the Sumatra Jungle.

They rarely come down to the ground.

To move around they hang on a tree and swing to the other.
the island is a major global biodiversity hotspot.

And yet, Sumatra burns.

The plantation of Palm trees has destroyed km of jungle and killed over 50.000 Orangutan.

The orangutans is now an endangered species.

The first plantation was handled by a London company: why that does not surprise me?

LonSum it’s called: London - Sumatra.

The indigenous (the Batak) still bury their deaths behind their households.
LonSum could not eradicate those cemeteries, but it did not stop their neo colonialism thirst.
“Eureka”: They planted palm trees around them creating a beautiful blissful circle of death.

Wonderful coulourful cemeteries pop out here and there in the palm trees plantation fields.

“Money always win” I think.

The locals say Working for the palm oil company is good.

It’s easy and “good money”.

Can’t blame them.

Meanwhile Cyclone Senyar dropped historic levels of rain, scientific and spatial analyses confirm that the sheer scale of the flooding was a direct consequence of the landscape being cleared.

More than 1000 lives were lost.

But the Palm trees haven’t just modified the soil and the ground, but also the local wheather.
It’s now more humid and hotter, it used to be much cooler.

Sumatra’s tropical rainforests are part of the "Maritime Continent"—the vital third pillar of the world's tropical forest system alongside the Amazon and the Congo Basin.

The destruction of Sumatra's forests impacts global weather in several critical ways.

Well :) At least summer in London will be much hotter inn’it ??

In Bukit Lawang, people smile and eat with their hands.

Hens and cows are everywhere.

Kids start smoking at the age of 12, or probably even earlier in life.

“I have seen nobody dying from smoking,” my new friend says.

“I quit when I get sick.”

“Okay,” I say.

We sip a beer, and I try his cigarette.
That cigarette has a bittersweet taste on the filter.

God only knows why.

I have never smoked anything that heavy in my life, and that weird sweetener gets stuck to my lips to add a new flavour to the beer I try to finish.

I feel nauseous.
I have never had a sweet tooth.
I have never been sweet.

That’s our brunch before jumping on his motorbike, which has no horn, no kilometre counter, and no fuel gauge.

“How do you know when you need gasoline?” I say.

“I feel it,” he says. And smiles back at me.

We cross bridges that swing and have holes in the pavement.
Each step feels like it’s going to be the last, and yet, we make it to the other side of the river.

“I’m scared as fuck.” He laughs at me.

Can’t blame him. I’d do the same.

With that smile on his face, he says:

“I checked everything before I came here. You’re safe.”

That beautiful smirk wins over any fear I have.
It’s bright and promising.

I know it’s going to be fun.

How can I not trust that smile?

Oddly, trust is the only thing I have here.

“Let’s go?”

he says.

“Okay,

let’s go.”

Mobility routine pre legs workout.

You know how much I love lifting and you know how important it is to prepare the body before you jump into it, to avoid injuries 🖤

These are Few ideas to keep your spine and hips moving, before your work out but also, just to give your body a gentle shake to keep your hips and spine healthy.
These are also some of the moves I bring into class sometimes :)

I feel everyday incredibly grateful to have the privilege to experience the practice, and to be able to share it with people around me.

I have never thought of myself as a new “Messiah” while teaching, same as I have never thought I can help “find yourself”: I can barely find my socks sometimes 🧦🩲

But I do hope and believe, that through this physical and spiritual practice that I share with you, you will be able to “see” yourself.
I hope this practice will help you connect with your inner self, hug them, pat them in the shoulders, and congratulate with them to be alive 🖤

I hope this practice will help you to be kinder, towards yourself and others.

The practice humbles you, it lift you up and crushes you down, and in the hardest asana you remember how fragile is a human body, and a human mind.
How little we need to feel shattered or being broken.

This practice is a gift that bring us all together.

Happy international yoga day

During this break from training and teaching,
My mental health wasn’t at its best.

Movement plays a good part on my wellbeing, and when I can’t move as I want

Depression hits me really hard.

I did sit down to meditate but I could not stay centered.

So I had two choices:
1.Wait to get sucked into my routine again, in much worse condition.
2. Do something else, anything else …

Three days later I was in Morocco with my sister.

In the buzzing and colourful streets of Marrakech,
We fall in love with the Medina and the chaos of people calling you out to sell you something or just to joke with you.
The energy is high.

Some vendors sleep on the stairs of their shops.

Stray cutie kittens play in the sun.
Marrakesh feels like home, and like a big Babilonia.

But of course it’s not all perfect.

Bounced back into my reality in a three hours flight, I look back at the story some friendly local people shared with me.

And while I am sitting comfortably on the sofa I bought myself, In the studio I pay with my money.

While I am sipping a beer.

I realise that I am an indipendent individual with a job I can complain about and that I can change,

if i only want to.

Simple, right ?

An indipendent and free woman,
privileged enough to choose if merry or not.

To choose who I want to love under the sunlight:

either man or woman, black or white, Italian or English.

Privileged enough to be able
To read the swirls of my mind, and free to believe in
Jesus, Allah or a flying pink unicorn.

If I only want to.

Privileged for these LITTLE things.

And while in my head the only question I could think was

“Why you and not me?”

An immense feeling of gratitude and warmth was making space in my aching heart.

I think about the beauty of the LITTLE things this ordinary life is packed with.
And after all I can finally say:

It’s a wonderful wonderful life.

At the time I did not know how rich I was owning nothing.
