One of the most common things we see in ADHD coaching is this:
People in our ADHD community forget to rest. And even more than that, many of us don’t feel like we *deserve* rest.

Because when you’ve spent years being told you’re lazy, too much, not trying hard enough, inconsistent, messy, dramatic, or difficult, rest can start to feel like something you have to earn.

Constantly compensating, masking, self-monitoring, adjusting, apologizing, pushing through, and trying to function in systems that weren’t built for your brain takes a LOT of cognitive energy.
So if you’re tired, your tiredness is valid.
Rest is not a luxury.
Rest is not weakness.
Rest is part of managing ADHD!!!

And rest doesn’t have to look one specific way. It might be quiet, cozy, active, playful, sensory, social, or completely weird to someone else.

What matters is that it helps you recover.
So here’s your prompt:
What are the ways I rest?

The world you grew up in, the systems you’ve had to navigate, the culture that did or didn’t make space for those of us who are neurodivergent
all of it leaves a mark on how your ADHD shows up today.

This is Part 1 of a two part series looking at everything that shapes your ADHD experience. by @flownspace

If you caught our last post on the ADHD Spectrum Wheel, this one’s for you. 👀

The wheel is a GREAT self awareness tool, but awareness alone doesn’t change anything. So here are 4 ways to take it further and actually use it to support yourself day to day.

All credit for the ADHD Spectrum Wheel goes to the brilliant Sonny Jane Wise (@livedexperienceeducator). Go give them a follow if you haven’t already. 🙏

Which slice are you starting with? Drop it below 👇 by @flownspace

The ADHD Spectrum Wheel is a self awareness tool that helps you map out which traits are showing up most intensely in your life right now. Understanding your own neurological makeup is the first step to actually supporting yourself well.

This beautiful framework was created by Sonny Jane Wise (@livedexperienceeducator). Go follow them if you don’t already.

Save this post, try mapping your wheel, and drop in the comments. Which slice needs the most support right now?

Generic ADHD tips don’t work because generic ADHD doesn’t exist. If your ADHD feels overwhelming right now, this is where I’d start. The ADHD Spectrum Wheel helps you identify which traits need the most support...so you stop trying to fix everything at once and start getting strategic. Original framework by the brilliant Sonny Jane Wise (@livedexperienceeducator on IG).

A few important notes:
🧠 This content is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not medical or clinical advice.
🧠 Everyone’s brain and nervous system is different. What works for one person may not work for another.
🧠 If you have questions about ADHD, neurodivergence, or your own brain, please consult a qualified medical or mental health professional.
🧠 Fact-check what you hear here, including from me. Good sources include peer-reviewed research, CHADD, and your own healthcare provider. If something doesn’t match what you’ve read elsewhere, note it in the comments. Accuracy matters and corrections are always welcome.

Hyperfocus is one of the most misunderstood parts of ADHD.
From the outside it looks like inconsistency like “why can you focus on that but not your work?” But neurologically, it makes complete sense.

Why?

ADHD brains have altered dopamine signaling, which means interest, novelty, and emotional pull often drive attention FAR more than intention or importance. When something hits that reward threshold, the brain locks in.

What’s something weird/cool/fun you’ve hyperfocused on? Drop it below 👇 by @flownspace

Your ADHD brain and sound. Here’s what the research actually says
and what it doesn’t.

Binaural beats and isochronic tones are everywhere right now. But most of the content skips the part where the science is still catching up to the hype.

Have you tried either of these? Did it help? 👀 by @flownspace
