We may never know exactly what we want to do in this lifetime.. Maybe we were never meant to know. Maybe our only job is to answer the subtle callings that pull us toward wonder, toward exploration, toward what makes us feel most alive. When we answer our inner calling, we don’t just find ourselves. We find each other. Reveling in the purity of new friendships and lifelong memories. Allowing the lake to unite us as one.…. Beneath our narratives and our differences, we are all sharing the same air, the same water, the same earth. Sharing a space where we will arrive as strangers, and leave as family. Just as waterskiing intended us to do.

From an abandoned orange field to one of the most important places in water skiing.

Jon Travers grew up at Sunset Lakes, surrounded by the sport, the people, and the work it takes to build something that lasts. Now, as a skier, father, and the next generation of the Travers Ski School, he is learning what it means to carry that legacy forward while still chasing his own path.

Bob LaPoint emerged during one of the most transformational period in water skiing history. Alongside his brother Kris, they helped push skiing away from the old world and into the modern era. The LaPoint brothers skied with a level of efficiency, speed, and technical precision that forced the entire sport to evolve around them.

But what makes Bob truly unique is that he never stopped searching.

Long after the trophies were collected and the headlines faded, LaPoint stayed in the workshop. He stayed curious. For more than 50 years he has studied the relationship between ski shape, water flow, balance, speed, and feel with the obsession of an artist refining his life’s work.

That pursuit continues today through Syndicate Works.
