Blessed beyond measure 🌸

During one of the hardest seasons in my life, God blessed me with another beautiful princess, beauty for ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. 🫶🏽

My princess arrived exactly on her due date 🙌🏽 Another incredibly speedy labour at 4hrs, grateful for my TENs machine & my doula @serenitydoulas ❤️ by @flowsphenom

✨ Flo’s Hyperemesis Journey ✨

We’ve witnessed Flo’s pregnancy journey from the very beginning one filled with both excitement and unexpected hardship. What she thought would be “morning sickness” quickly revealed itself to be Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), a condition far more severe than ordinary nausea in pregnancy.

From her first trimester through to the end, Flo endured:
🌊 Non-stop vomiting
💧 Being unable to keep even water down
⚖️ Severe weight loss instead of weight gain
🏥 Multiple hospital admissions and dangerously high ketones

What many don’t realise is just how crippling HG can be. It’s not “just morning sickness.” It’s a serious condition that can put both mum and baby at risk if left untreated.

💡 Learning Points:
👉 If you’re vomiting non-stop and can’t keep fluids down see a doctor immediately.
👉 High ketones are a sign your body is breaking down, and urgent care is needed.
👉 Advocacy matters Flo spoke up for herself and chose induction when she felt ready.

🌸 The beautiful twist? The moment her baby girl was born, the hyperemesis vanished. After months of weakness and tears, Flo finally held her princess and felt relief wash over her.

Her story is one of courage, resilience, and hope. To every mum battling HG right now you are stronger than you know. 💪 @flowsphenom

Not a week goes by without someone sending me this clip of Milla Jovovich playing with a Chanel beauty tech device in the 1997 film The Fifth Element!

I’m so glad to have cosmetic scientist Florence Adepoju @flowsphenom on speed dial to finally find out if this is ever going to be a possibility.

Fun fact: not only did the brilliant @jeanpaulgaultier design the costumes for The Fifth Element, he also created the beauty tech device in this scene; it wasn’t created by Chanel!

By the way Florence did say that if we ever get this tech it will be very expensive to manufacture and also expensive for the consumer but with the way machine learning is growing, it’s definitely a possibility. What do you think? #makeup by @flowsphenom

A few weeks ago, I had the honour of speaking to GCSE students about the fascinating world of science in the cosmetics industry at the London Science Museum with Stem:LIVE.

One of the best parts of my journey has been seeing students I’ve inspired over the years now killing it as graduates, creating some of the game changing beauty products we all know and love.

Now I’m feeling inspired and FINALLY ready to make a bold step back into the arena in 2025 ✨
